Where did Munhumutapa Day come from and Why?

I see ana Fulcrum naana Hopewell vachiita kutota nenyaya yeMunhumutapa Day as if it is a new concept to them. They are now desperately claiming the President is crowning himself King and setting up a dynasty.

First off, stop being ignorant guys, our Constitution has zero provision for a monarchy.

Secondly, and most importantly, the President is a direct descendant of the great Munhumutapa lineage, and calling him that is simply honoring his heritage.

Let me just educate you on where Munhumutapa Day comes from and why it is important for us as a country:

As VP Cde. CGDN Chiwenga clearly laid out a while ago in 2021, Zimbabwe has only ONE MUNHUMUTAPA which is plain Shona for THE LEADER. It is our indigenous term for the head of state and has nothing to do with establishing a "kingdom." The President is our Mutapa/Leader, whether your bitterness allows you to accept it or not.

On 15 September which is our Leader's birthday, the ZANU PF Youth League, led by Cde John Paradza, established Munhumutapa Day to celebrate his monumental work. Look around you, from the massive infrastructure overhauls to economic modernisations, the transformation post-2017 is too visible to ignore.

Today we have decided to make this a holiday because the majority of the country have accepted and agreed that we should celebrate this day as a whole country.

As our tradition dictates, isusu sevanhu vanobva kunevanhu tinokudza vanhu vakuru vachiri vapenyu. Toda kupa baba vedu maruva avo vachiri vapenyu!

Munhumutapa Day is Zimbabwe celebrating the birth of the man who fought for our liberation and is now liberating the nation from poverty and underdevelopment.

The World Bank said Zimbabwe isn't fragile. Why are these guys fighting the data?

@BitiTendai , @ibbosnr Mandaza, and the usual crew are dusting off the microphones for another SAPES Trust panel. Their mission this time? Trying to debunk the World Bank’s recent assessment that Zimbabwe is NOT a fragile state.

Let’s break down why this doesn't add up.

Biti is a pseudo-economist at best, and frankly, he lacks the credentials to challenge the World Bank's global methodology. The Bank uses the same criteria for every single country on earth. So why are these panelists demanding unique variables just for Zimbabwe? You can't change the rules of the game just because you don't like the score.

The reality is the World Bank was looking at *economic* fragility. And on that front, the numbers speak for themselves:
📉 Inflation sat at just 2.9% in July.
📈 The IMF’s Staff Monitored Program confirmed macroeconomic stability and positive growth projections.
💵 Foreign currency reserves are holding strong at over USD 1.2 billion.

Plus, Zimbabwe remains one of the most peaceful, politically stable nations in the region.

This whole panel looks less like an economic discussion and more like a desperate scramble for relevance and agenda-setting ahead of UNGA.
