Twitter, Here’s how I turned a viral moment into a startup with thousands of users in less than a week - all from my college dorm

The real thing OpenAI did is make it way easier to be a micro-entrepreneur. A lot of companies that anyone can start and make a good living off of that don’t need venture money now. It’s actually quite delightful.
im helping an ex-YC partner that sold his startup to @Mastercard recruit blk founders for a new accelerator he’s launching soon:
• fully virtual for accessibility
• get funded after the program
• sessions w vc-backed founders
• help w getting into YC & more

When watching G.G. Jackson play basketball, you will see that he is a very athletic and gifted 3-level scorer. Along with his scoring ability becomes an aggressiveness that coaches sometimes beg to get out of their players. He is always shot-ready and looking for diverse ways to put his offensive touch on a game whether it is him creating a shot for himself, C&S situations, or with his back to the basket. The fact that he was the leading scorer (15.4 PPG) as a freshman on his South Carolina team in the competitive SEC speaks volumes of his potential. What also works in his favor and development is the fact that he is 6’9” and 215 pounds with an NBA-ready frame, his size allows him to get his shot off over most defenders. Jackson is also the youngest player in the NBA and will not turn 19 until December. Despite his age, G.G. can be a physical player and does not shy away from rebounding (5.9 RPG in college) (4.75 in NBASL, 2nd most TOT REB on Grizzlies) The major issue with his game in college is his shot selection and what basically looked like an unwillingness to pass despite having the ball in his hands more than anyone else on the roster. (0.8 AST) (30.8 USG%, next best – 23.8%). This bled over into the NBA summer league too, with him only tallying 7 assists in 8 games. With the Gamecocks, he shot a poor 38% from the field and just below average 32% from 3 on 5.3 attempts per game. As a player he possesses the ball handling, footwork, and size that allows him to get to his spots on the court, but it will be necessary for his long-term career to get to these spots and be able to make the right decision not only for him but his teammates. Defensively he should be able to keep up with most wings in the NBA due to his athleticism and size, but he is not an attentive defender, often getting blown by or ball watching. This will also need to change for him to get consistent opportunity and a chance to shine in the NBA. The Grizzlies are looking for a permanent starting 3 and he has all the tools to be that guy in the future if he cleans up his mental mistakes on the court.

AI apps haven't really cracked the "collaboration" angle.
Which usually leads to Network Effects, that is when a single user brings more users to your platform.
Think Calendly links or inviting your team on Slack, leading to product led growth of these platforms.
6/8:
Generative AI features are great hooks to attract users but are not enough to retain them.
Once users are onboard they expect a "Last Mile Experience"
For instance: If you're a pitch deck AI app, your users now expect all features that are present in Google Slides.
5/8:
Tony Fadell co-created the iPhone.
In his book, Build, he explains why product management and product marketing should be the same role.
"Your messaging is your product. The story you're telling shapes the thing you're making."
I've always believed this as someone who did both.
This feature is an especially exciting launch for the team. Our vision has always been to create a better internet economy, and despite today's news, we at Utopia remain undaunted and determined to forge ahead. Here’s why:👇🏿
Music streaming is maxing out.
Passive consumption has been pushed to its brink.
Music’s new growth will come from interactivity, engagement, and creation itself.
I don't think AI music is a threat to real musicians
I believe it's an opportunity to create more beautiful music like this
The best artists will partner with programmers to make 🔥 AI songs

The line between music creator & consumer is about to get very blurry.
Think about this:
→ Apple Music has 90 million subscribers
→ Bandlab has 60 million music creators
Every 3 Apple listeners has 2 Bandlab creators vying for their ear!
How many of TikTok’s 1.6 billion users will join these ranks with their upcoming AI tools to “significantly lower the music creation barrier”?
Or Google’s MusicLM?
Or 100 others on the way.
This can be a good thing for capital "A" Artists. If done right. Interactivity > passivity.
Music’s big opportunity is creation.
Not consumption.
Unpopular opinion, but I think it's way more difficult to use Generative AI in an area where you are a rank beginner than in a field where you have some subject matter expertise in.
For example, you can ask GPT-4 to build you a front end, but if you don't know anything about tailwind css or react, you're going to get something very generic. Conversely if you never performed a SWOT or sensitivity analysis, you wouldn't be able to tell if the output you got has any real insight.
On the image generation side, sure you can get some neat pictures out of the box, but if you understood principles of lightning, different artists styles, exposure/aperture, depth of field, camera variants, you can get some truly stunning results.
Generative AI is not a tool for the ignorant. But it truly rewards those who are patient and curious.
i’m so excited to be able to show you all what we are developing as the new way to monetize streams…. and we are in talks with labels too 👀 @streamapolloai
"It can't be that an Ed Sheeran stream is worth exactly the same as a stream of rain falling on the roof."
- Robert Kyncl, WMG CEO
Welcome to the all-you-can-eat buffet.
Not only are these songs worth the same, they're both worth approximately zero.
