It might be good for people to meet in person for work, but fairness is a silly argument. Some people have to work outdoors in the cold. To be fair, why don’t we turn off the heat in our offices.
This is about fairness: it’s not fair that most people have to come to work to build products or provide services while Federal Government employees get to stay home
@davefarley77 The amount of information that I need to managed is much more than in the old days. However, rather than doing hard thinking it feels more like untaggling knots.
@unclebobmartin@jonjelliott@natemcgrady Similarly, many POs or SMs I’ve met do not know the names of the signatories of the Agile manifesto. However, they can describe quite well parts of the SCRUM handbook.
@unclebobmartin@jonjelliott@natemcgrady It seems the same is true of many people working who are below a certain age now. I don’t draw any conclusions from that. It just surprises me a bit when at the beginning of the course I ask people if they know the people whose work we’ll be studying.
@lucaseeeduardo@unclebobmartin@bigteckenergy@trikcode I like very much Kent Beck’s way of explaining this in way of comparing it to options.
Code has value in two ways:
- today’s behavior
- optionality for future behavior
@unclebobmartin I believe makes the same point in his clean code books.
Make America Great Again is geen hol begrip.
I read headlines about RFK jr being a conspiracy theorist and anti-vaxer. As a curious person, I like to see what he has to say directly for myself rather than reading someone’s summary.
So here’s a video of him being interviewed on the topic in case you’re interested.
Robert F. Kennedy Jr. - The Real Story the Media Won’t Let You Hear.
Today, many journalists will label Kennedy as a “foolish anti-vaxxer.” This depiction is completely inaccurate and raises serious doubts about the reliability of mainstream media. After years of exposing corruption in the pharmaceutical industry, it’s remarkable how these same media outlets offered their unconditional support to those companies during and after the COVID-19 pandemic.
Kennedy is not an anti-vaxxer. His position is clear: vaccines should undergo rigorous testing to ensure they are safe and effective for everyone. He champions the right of individuals to make informed decisions about vaccines—free from manipulation or pressure. This is not a radical stance but a logical demand for public health and accountability.
In the video below, Kennedy explains his views in his own words. Listen carefully and form your own judgment, rather than relying on the opinions of journalists who appear to have skipped their research. As Kennedy himself says: “I don’t want to take vaccines away from people. If vaccines work for you, you should have access to them. But the decision must be informed, based on reliable and transparent scientific evidence about the risks and benefits of each vaccine.”
This is why he calls for independent, unbiased panels to make decisions about vaccines—eliminating conflicts of interest and ensuring that safety is always the priority.
It’s an inspiring vision for the future, where freedom of choice and openness are valued above all else!
Peter Thiel: "What has become 'science' is more dogmatic than the Catholic church was in the 17th century"
Watch as Bari Weiss tries desperately to get Thiel to criticize MAHA / RFK jr, and Thiel responds with a spectacular exposition of everything wrong with modern science.
@alexbunardzic I am also amazed at how popular the PR request has become on non-open source projects. it tends to lead to queuing. That tends to lead to increased batch-sizes. These combine to lead to increased work-in-progress ,and lower bandwidth communication.
It bears repeating that "THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS SCOPE CREEP IN AN AGILE PROJECT." Scope creep implies that you have a big up-front tactical plan and that any deviation from that plan is bad. Agile projects have a strategic goal and move towards that goal incrementally, defining what to do next by getting feedback from releasing the current small increment. These are radically different ways of working. Agile development is about continuously refining scope as you work. There's nothing to "creep."
@jamiebrough@allenholub Consider two classes of objects, one modeling vectors and another a mathematical expression of vectors. These could be coded with objects in many ways, but not all implementations would be object-oriented. @allenholub has described a way of reasoning about the difference.
@allenholub@jamiebrough I think many people don’t get this distinction. The same happens in mathematics. For example, many people think of a vector as just a tuple of coordinates. However, a true vector is defined by what it does not by one possible coordinate representation of it.
