Reaching for reason, rest, a breath
we will stumble, slip in the traps
collapse sometimes, for a time
This is the weight of what we witness
We all lift for each other, for a time
over every trap, bluff, bereavement, blind
we lift our vital voices, lives, minds
sure as sun WE RISE
@hatpinwoman The underlying issue is pseudo-virtuous contempt, for facts, for the electorate, for the national/public interest.
The Nolan Principles cannot be viewed as abstract, lofty standards (nor reach-exceed-grasp ideals); they should be practical, non-negotiable conduct requirements.
@Tallulah_66_XX Accountability helps by making sure those who have already demonstrated a profound absence of judgement or woeful lack of integrity are kept away from positions of influence.
Laundering reputations and dimissing criticism/critics leads to replication.
@Tallulah_66_XX@AlessandraAster@AllianceLGB@BevJacksonAuth Indeed, "how will things ever change?" if you relocate the problem from
from >>> prominent/respected groups lauding/laundering the reputation of a man who actively enabled these systemic harms to
to >>> women's appropriate criticism of those lauding/laundering that man

@OhMylanta_12@hatpinwoman *because of*
It's because of the attempt to corrupt/distort/hijack the categorical meaning of these words (in life, policy and law) that we must not concede their usage/meaning.
It's not an argument. It's justification.
People who avoided saying men/women solely to avoid online/social/professional punishment don't then justify that with "it's for clarity" bullshit.
Others submitted to/indulge the affected pretence that the words women/men are unclear.
In private discussion, some of those who keep using “female people” have said they are doing so because they believe women and girls is no longer clear enough language; that because men have insinuated themselves into that category the average reader doesn’t know for sure that women and girls means women and girls anymore
I’ve heard the argument that it brings greater clarity
In the early days when we were dancing around twitter bans, I understood it as a way to keep being allowed to talk, but it doesn’t bring clarity at all. It just concedes something to trans ideology
Women and girls is still clear language, no matter how men try to corrupt it and we really shouldn’t cede it. The average reader knows perfectly well what a woman is but if someone is confused that’s a great opportunity to remind them that men are not women and they are not girls.
These men actively try to claim female too
So where do we go after female people? How linguistically contorted do we make ourselves?
Of course sometimes we naturally talk about being female, and the female experience, but we aren’t fighting for “female people rights”. We are fighting for the rights of women and girls
So name us. Name us clearly, frequently and without apology.
How debasing and misogynist if we are the one female of a species who doesn’t consistently warrant the use of our own specific word to denote that we are HUMAN females?
Even the hen gets her word. A single word that says that she is female, and belongs to her species instead of any other.
So does the pullet (the young female chicken)
And we wouldn’t change how we speak of them just to appease or concede to the cockerel and rooster
We grant them the distinction of specific language and a specific word.
Women and girls each deserve that too
Stop (even unintentionally) putting the rooster first just because he won’t stop squawking 🐓
@OhMylanta_12@hatpinwoman It's easy; in spite of and *because of* the lies.
Woman & girl are categorical words for human female adults & children, respectively, which exclude all men & boys

@hatpinwoman Indulging affected aversions to categorically clear words - woman/man/boy/girl - and claiming it's an act of clarity is sow-soaring, cock-laying, Butlerian bullshittery.
It's astonishing anyone with an ounce of intellectual integrity is still down in this proverbial buck-hole.
@DingsdaleJ95299 Because the worms are actually The Truth Coming Out of Her Well. And they threw her in it, embedding 'GR' into the EA to ensure her furious cries were never heard.
