I’m beyond certain that there was someone on the creative team that fought the good fight to create a multi-ep Salem’s Lot, yet lost. It must be tough to be the character in a Stephen King story that knew better while everyone else was making tragic mistakes.
I’m proud of the short documentary on Crain that I’m wrapping and hope to get out to festivals; I regret that he only got to see a rough draft before he passed. I’ll be sure to post about it when it’s finished.
RIP William Crain II, 1938-2024

I waited a while to post this, but it’s time:
William Crain, director of Blacula, passed away peacefully on June 22, 2024, in Tarzana, CA. Crain also directed the feature Dr. Black and Mr. Hyde as well as tv including Starsky and Hutch, Matt Houston, and The Mod Squad. 1/5
Less well known is that Crain later spearheaded efforts to integrate Hollywood’s behind-the-camera crews as part of the DGA, winning a DGA and NAACP Spirit Award. He became reclusive later in life but never gave up hope of making a third monster film to tie up his career. 4/5
