Japanese media are obsessed with Tiananmen because it gives them a moral stage they never earned.
They do not remember Asia.
They do not remember Nanjing.
They do not remember Unit 731.
They do not remember comfort women.
They do not remember the graves they left across the continent.
But they suddenly remember Chinese “human rights” when it helps them feel morally superior to China.
Japan lost the Pacific War.
