@smartcashpsb@smartcashpsb is the worst banking service in Nigeria, they have no customer care and just seize peoples money with nobody to contact.
I initiated two transactions on my account, was debited and did not receive value for any since 15th of dec last year and this is the same story.
@FBN_help@FirstBankngr@fccpcnigeria@cenbank First bank please tell me why my transaction failed, the fund is reversed in my transaction history after 24 hours but not reflecting on my balance?
@palmpay_ng Why do I keep getting debits when the auto renewal is off? @palmpay_ng X @AXAMansard Please stop this fraudulent service @fccpcnigeria and @officialEFCC
This is micro fraud and not micro insurance you should look into it. And they have the worst customer support I've ever seen.
Here are my high-level notes about the space we just had about finding your first job as a software engineer after you finish #ALX_SE or any other CS/SWE program or university. GL to you all!
1. Start Early and Apply Broadly:
- Begin applying for jobs before graduating; half of the panelists secured positions before the completion of their program. The end of foundational courses is an ideal time to start; if you master at least 80% of the #ALX_SE Foundations you should feel confident in starting your job search.
- Don't hesitate to apply to job postings even if you don't meet all the requirements. Companies often list ideal qualifications and expect candidates to grow into the role.
- Apply to multiple positions; persistence is key. @ShazaAlyOthman , for example, applied to 40 jobs before securing her first role. I personally applied to over 100.
2. Embrace Learning and Feedback:
- Use every rejection as a learning opportunity. Analyze what could be improved, whether it's your knowledge base or how you present your resume. As an example, here is how @ShazaAlyOthman improved her resume over time: https://t.co/dJFkcOFGm7 ; @Emmanuel_Chalo also shared his first version of his resume: https://t.co/U6mfRKmbcw
3. Network and Build Your Presence:
- Participate in hackathons to learn new skills and make connections.
- Be active on platforms like LinkedIn and Twitter to enhance your visibility. Most panelists attributed their first job to being noticed on social media! Start this day 1, don’t wait the end of the program
4. Interview Preparation:
- Engage with peers in tech interview study groups and leverage networks like the tech interview prep community https://t.co/X3BOR5PKlk or the Algorithms training community @Algorithmia_SE
- Research prospective employers thoroughly. Understand their products, history, and culture. Who/what are the CEO, the founders, their main product. How big is the company, etc.
- Prepare for both technical and HR questions. Practice common interview questions https://t.co/EK0z01Efi0 and use the STAR method to structure your responses when it makes sense. https://t.co/anTeSLeVzc
- Anticipate technical tests by practicing coding problems, especially if aiming for top tech companies. Leetcode is a good tool for this.
5. Handling Interviews:
- During interviews, ask questions to not only show your interest but also to assess if the company's culture fits your career goals.
- Manage interview stress by practicing with friends or using tools like ChatGPT. Consider mock interviews and practice answering questions in front of a mirror.
- Be mindful of your body language. Maintain eye contact and be aware of your expressions—smile and show enthusiasm. Or as @nuux_tv said “Be aware of your default face during interviews. Smile and connect with the interviewer” #quoteoftheday
- Overcome fear of public speaking by practicing in increasingly challenging environments, starting with familiar people and progressing to strangers.
- Maintain honesty in your interactions. If you don’t know something, admit it openly.
6. Negotiation:
- Make sure you prepare to give an answer to “What is your salary expectation"
- Don't shy away from negotiating your offer. Research the standard salary range for entry-level engineers in your area and at the company to set realistic expectations.
- Consider the overall compensation package, including benefits and work-life balance, not just the salary.
- Asking for a higher salary won't jeopardize a job offer if your request is reasonable. Often, companies expect negotiations and may initially offer a salary below their maximum allowance to accommodate this. The worst outcome is a simple 'no', but negotiating can frequently lead to a better offer.
PS: big thank you to all our panelists! Please give them a follow! @ShazaAlyOthman@Emmanuel_Chalo@DoreenNangira@UduakobongUwah@nuux_tv
