I honestly believe GDP is an unreliable measure of true economic growth because it only calculates a mathematical average and hides how wealth is actually shared among people. It includes wealth of the super rich and thus hides inequality. The real index is per capita income.

Villages downstream of the Himalaya are exposed to the risks of Nepal- like catastrophes.A glacial avalanche above Chamoli, in Uttarakhand, killed more than 200 also partly destroying two hydroelectric plants in 2021. In 1970, a similar glacial avalanche in Peru killed 17,000.
