New: UT will not rename the Stan Richards School of Advertising and Public Relations following controversy over racist comments made by Richards, according to a report released today.
However, the college will rebrand certain Moody projects.

.@UTAustinPolice responded to a report of a man waving a gun at 24th and San Antonio St. around 7 p.m.
UTPD detained the suspect at the scene. A UTPD spokesperson said the suspect was not in possession of a weapon.
The scene is now clear.

.@UTAustinPolice has increased patrols in West Campus and officers will also use white alley lights to illuminate alleys at night.
This comes after UT President @JCHartzell directed UTPD to up patrols following recent crimes and Austin voters denying Prop A.

New: The suspect pepper sprayed a student and stole their cell phone, according to APD.
As of now, an APD spokesperson said they do not believe an arrest has been made. APD is asking community members to call 911 to report any suspicious activity.

.@UTAustinPolice responded to a robbery near 30th and Cedar St. around 12 a.m. Thursday.
A UT student was robbed about 30 minutes prior, possibly by the same suspect.
According to the alert, UTPD and APD are still attempting to locate the suspect.

While Election Day results are still being counted, @MayorAdler declared the ballot item was struck down.
The item would have diverted funding from other city departments to fund the staffing increase.
Today, Austin voters rejected Proposition A, a ballot item that would have forced the City of Austin to spend $120 million to adopt an antiquated police staffing model of two police officers per one-thousand residents.
New: Prop A, a ballot item to increase police staffing in Austin, was rejected by 66% of early voters in Travis County.
This comes after UT President @JCHartzell announced UTPD will work with APD to increase policing in West Campus following an increase in crime.

New: UT President @JCHartzell says UTPD will increase patrols in West Campus due to a high level of crime in the area recently, including a shooting Sunday evening and a man threatening a store clerk with a gun Monday.
UTPD will work with @Austin_Police and @TxDPS, Hartzell said
The safety of our campus community remains a top priority for the university. In light of recent events, I am directing UTPD to increase its patrol in the west campus area and develop additional options to enhance safety for our students.
.@UTAustinPolice and @Austin_Police responded to a report of an armed robbery at 7/11 on Guadalupe St. this evening.
The suspect fled on foot and was detained by officers at 25th and San Gabriel St. According to UTPD, there is no active threat.

According to @Austin_Police, the actual shots-fired call came in at 11:21 p.m. and officers responded by 11:31 p.m.
Prior to the actual incident, a call came in at 10:40 p.m. regarding shots fired, but APD learned the sounds heard then were fireworks in the same area.
.@Austin_Police responded to a report of a shooting at 22nd and Pearl St. Sunday evening. The victim was transported to a local hospital, according to @UTAustinPolice.
The suspect was last seen driving eastbound from the intersection.

Those involved are still not in police custody as of this morning at 8:34 a.m. UTPD said it believes the suspects are no longer in the West Campus area following last night’s shooting.
UTPD provided courtesy escorts and increased visibility throughout the night.
