We're making a small update to the model picker in ChatGPT! We know it's critical to a lot of people's work, and that we have a lot of paying users who care deeply about this one, so wanted to take some time to detail out the tweak.
One important point upfront – you'll still have access to the same models and reasoning levels, besides the removal of thinking-light (used by less than 1% of our paid users).
You'll see an updated list of options (similar to how Codex works):
- Instant
- Medium (Thinking-Standard)
- High (Thinking-Extended)
- Extra High (Thinking-Heavy) [for pro users]
- Pro (with option to choose Pro-Standard or Pro-Extended) [for pro users]
The intent is to make it easier to choose the balance of speed and effort that works best for your task.
We also took into account community feedback to make sure:
a) Thinking-heavy is easily accessible
b) Pro standard and Pro extended are easily accessible
c) We clearly communicate these changes
Given that, here are some release notes detailing the updates - https://t.co/S1QeyXgTNM. Give it a try, it's rolling out today, and we're always open to feedback, we know it's important to get it right!
I've had access to Fable for a bit. A genuine jump in capability, I could feed it a 15 page design document for a project and it would work for 9+ hours and deliver terrific results.
But working with it is weird & weirder is coming

Introducing Claude Fable 5: a Mythos-class model that we’ve made safe for general use.
Its capabilities exceed those of any model we’ve ever made generally available.
SpaceX's Jessica Jensen confirms that the revised Starship HLS plan for Artemis 4 involves a Starship-Orion docking in low Earth orbit, with Starship doing the TLI burn to go to low lunar orbit.
NASA's Jeremy Parsons outlines the current plan for Artemis 3:
- Blue Origin's lander launches into orbit
- Orion launches, docked with lander for two days
- Orion undocks, await Starship launch
- Orion docks with Starship for a day, then returns.
A senior U.S. official says that an Iranian drone collided with the US Army Apache that went down near the Strait of Hormuz yesterday -N12

While there was nothing revolutionary, Apple just rebooted the foundation of its platforms with functional AI, a working Siri and improved performance. This is critical ahead of the next three years of blockbuster new devices that run these operating systems. The right move.
Google has placed an order for Intel to manufacture 3 million TPUs. The Information broke the news this morning, so if you are wondering why Intel's stock is skyrocketing (again) that's why. The US Government's 10% stake is paying off quite well. Nothing but good news since then.
According to FT, @OpenAI is preparing the biggest ChatGPT overhaul since launch. This is not just a UI refresh. The plan is to make ChatGPT a broader "superapp" for Codex, agents, image generation and partner apps like Canva and Booking.
Codex will reportedly get more prominence after reaching 5M+ weekly active users, up 6x since the desktop app launched in February. Enterprise is becoming central too, with 2M businesses using OpenAI products and roughly 40% of revenue now coming from business customers.
The most interesting part: OpenAI eventually wants to remove many explicit prompts and features, betting that the model can understand intent automatically and route users to the right tool.
ChatGPT is becoming the interface for work, not just a place to type questions.
The Gemini Pro models do not seem to be iterating anywhere near as quickly as Claude or GPT (last release was 3.1 Pro in February). Its causing a growing performance gap between Google and the other two labs, and the Gemini 3.5 Flash model, good as it is, doesn't close it much.
