I’m frustrated that people feel like that have to justify any enjoyment of the Acolyte with a “sure it’s has flaws” disclaimer. No one did this when Mando came out. No one did this when Ahsoka came out. Ppl just said they enjoyed the shows. Why do we do that with The Acolyte?

the qiao sisters were the two daughters of lord qiao, aka the southland patriarch, during the late eastern han dynasty.

their full names remain unknown, as they are recorded merely as da qiao, meaning ‘big qiao’ (the elder qiao), and xiao qiao, meaning ‘little qiao’ (the younger qiao).

hailing from wan county in lujiang commandery, in what is now anhui province, the sisters were famed across the land for their exceptional beauty, alluring and worthy of the nation.

da qiao married the warlord sun ce after he conquered wan county, while xiao qiao became the wife of the brilliant general zhou yu, who served under sun ce.

in historical legend, poetry, and art, zhou yu, tall, handsome, and witty, is often portrayed as the ideal gentleman, and his union with the stunning xiao qiao is depicted as a match made in heaven.

little else is known about the qiao sisters beyond their celebrated beauty and marriages to prominent men. their names and voices have been lost through time, and their personal lives remain largely a mystery.

meanwhile, in #ThePrisonerOfBeauty, xiao qiao (#SongZuer) and da qiao (#HeHongshan) are cousins bound by a deep, sisterly bond. each wants happiness for the other. da qiao is willing to give xiao qiao everything she owns, and xiao qiao is willing to sacrifice herself for da qiao, stepping into her place to marry wei shao (#LiuYuning), so that da qiao can follow her heart and elope with the man she loves.
