映画字幕は、文字数制限から口調自体はフラットになりがちだけど、自分の場合はそこまで厳密さが求められないゲーム翻訳をやっているからか、もう少し「内省的」な語彙に寄せて、キャラクター性を強めたくなる。

そういえば映画マイケルの感想をひとつ書き忘れてた。大やけどを負った（ネタバレ？）病床で、
「死にかけた」
みたいな字幕があったけど、台詞としては "I was dead” だったかな。自分の脳内では
「ダメかと思った」「死を覚悟した」
と再生されてたんで、少し違和感があった。温度感が違うというか。
まあ、字幕だから文字数の制限でそうしたんだろうなあ。

まためちゃめちゃ面白い仕事をやってしまった。ゲーム企画書の翻訳。
企画の魅力を、絶対に出資者/パブリッシャーの担当者の心に届かせなければならない。ゲーム内容を深く理解した上で、文言にもレイアウトにもこだわり抜く。そんな翻訳を外部の俺に任せて貰えるのは、一言で云って「光栄」だ。
元々、翻訳者としてより企画者としてのキャリアの方が長いんで、企画書は莫大な数を書いてきている。企画書というのがあまり表に出るものではないだけに、こういう翻訳には経験がものをいう。AIにはできるめえ。
ただ、普通はこういう翻訳は社内で行われるものだから、フリーランスには降りてこないんだけどね。でもまあ、面白い仕事であった。
終わったんで寝る。

え、『Blue Prince』非公式日本語化Modってマジか？　無理だろ？
いやでも、『文字遊戯』だって日本語されたぐらいだからな。現地語・現地市場を解する人間が変更仕様書を書いて「作り直し」レベルで手を入れれば…

…いやModじゃ無理だわ。
「原作の旨味が劣化しててもいいから、どうしても味わってみたい。クリアしたい」と切望する人間向けだなあ。
