Worksop Town were deeply saddened to learn of the passing of former Tigers striker Paul Cavell, aged 63.
Paul started his career at hometown club Worksop, playing between 1982-1987 and scoring over 70 goals.
Our thoughts are with his friends and family at this difficult time.
โฝ๏ธ We are inviting interest in players looking to join for the 2026/27 season. Our first-team are the highest-placed Lincolnshire team in the pyramid, and on Friday night were crowned county champions in style with victory over Spalding United.

Really enjoyable CPD event at Louth FC. Despite the awful weather, the coaches were switched on, asked good questions, and brought plenty of ideas. Great to be around people committed to improving the game @LincolnshireFA@Louth_FC

๐ฅ Mother Cup 2025 โ A Festival of Football, Unity & Hope ๐ฆ๐ซโฝ๏ธ
Last Sunday, Lincolnshire proudly hosted the Mother Cup Afghan Football Tournament โ the largest Afghan football event in the UK to date, with over 650 players from Afghan communities across the country representing Hazara, Pashtun, Tajik, Uzbek and more ๐
Organised by a local Afghan father and daughter team, this incredible event brought together youth and senior teams in a powerful celebration of culture, football, and community spirit.
๐ Named the 'Mother Cup', all proceeds go towards supporting widows and women in Afghanistan โ providing critical access to food, water, and education in areas where women are currently prohibited from working.
๐๏ธ Huge thanks to the @GTFCFoundation for hosting the event, and to @TravelodgeUK for helping remove barriers to participation with discounted stays for visiting teams.
๐ But this is just the beginning! Weโve already:
โ๏ธ Launched weekly Afghan football sessions in Lincoln
โ๏ธ Scheduled a subsidised referee course for Afghan community members
โ๏ธ Planned women-and-girls-only sessions in private, culturally sensitive spaces
๐ฌ Watch the highlights from an unforgettable day of football, friendship and impact ๐
๐ข Reminder that due to an event at LNER Stadium today our Comets session will be held at Birchwood Leisure Centre for this week only. ๐ข
