Postcard from #Bulawayo📍
Last week, Amnesty International Zimbabwe partnered with Bambelela Arts Ensemble to host three impactful community dialogues on Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights (SRHR) and Obstetric Fistula at Mzilikazi Youth Centre and Matshobana Youth Centre in Bulawayo. 🎭❤️🩹
Using theatre as a powerful human rights education tool, the dialogues brought together a diverse mix of participants — adolescents and young people, community health workers, persons with disabilities, police officers from the Victim Friendly Unit (VFU), community leaders, Amnesty International Zimbabwe’s SRHR Champions, as well as elderly women and men.
Through storytelling, performances, and open conversations, participants explored the importance of sexual and reproductive health rights and challenged the stigma, harmful cultural perceptions, and gender stereotypes that continue to fuel discrimination surrounding obstetric fistula.
These community dialogues form part of Amnesty International Zimbabwe’s ongoing public information and education campaign under the #EndObstetricFistula #RestoreDignity campaign. 💪✨
By sharing accurate information and creating safe spaces for dialogue, the campaign seeks to empower communities to make informed decisions about sexual and reproductive health — a crucial step towards preventing obstetric fistula and restoring dignity to affected women and girls, particularly in underserved communities.
Together, we can break the silence, challenge stigma, and build communities where every woman and girl can live with dignity. ❤️🩹✨

"What is the 'future' FEMNET is fighting for? It is an Africa where a girl born today and woman in all diversity can walk any road she chooses—free from all forms of violence, free from the weight of unpaid care, where women lead in corporate board rooms, in Parliament, are presidents. An Africa where solidarity is muscle memory, not a slogan." - Dr. Amany Asfour; Chairperson FEMNET

For us with the privilege of knowing, we have a responsibility to raise awareness of this devastating disease which is curable with early diagnosis. Let's talk about it, get others into the habit of monthly self breast exam + periodic screening. #KnowYourBreast
