It feels to me like in H2 2025 some models basically “jumped out” of the benchmark box. METR is good, but even that seems to underestimate AI dev capabilities in the right circumstances

@karpathy Did you @karpathy know that written Chinese has symbolic layers:the meaning of a character can shift depending on how its visual form is described or combined?

This means that treating input as plain text in LLM training can be lossy: some meaning lives in the symbols themselves
