from the relentless media speculation to the red bull orders to getting lapped and ending last among all finishers, that entire weekend was one big humiliation ritual for him, and you guys are celebrating because it denied lando a grand slam in a race he won by twenty seconds 😭
lando “easily fixates” “very particular about his eyeline level in the car because it ‘fucks with his brain’” “needs people to use exact metrics like ‘27 seconds’ instead of rounded numbers because that ‘could mean anything’ to him” norris is neurodivergent
who would’ve thought
when carlos was asked about the unusual racing line that got him pole, and he said it was 'just a lando thing' he picked up from iracing, remembering how lando used to do it all the time at mclaren and how it always left him puzzled!
[mexico '24]
@landemonfc@jonlann__ fanbases of drivers noted for having preferential treatment (or lack thereof for their teammate) clauses built into their contracts shitting on lando for the most nothingburger p7 swap ever that he never even directly asked for
incredible how lando has been involved in team orders for a race win twice in his career and both times it was HIM SLOWING DOWN/giving up the position, yet the narrative the last few years was how he’s the one who needs team orders for any achievement
glad the agenda has been slowly more and more isolated to a small subset of parasocial fans who don’t watch this sport or live in reality anyways because before… 😭😭
i just want to emphasize again how insane lando's pace on the one-stop was. on lap 34 it was projected max would catch and pass lando in 4 laps on his brand new mediums. lando held him off until lap 47
mexico 23 is one of landos underrated races. after a qualifying blunder by both driver and team left him starting 17th, he fought his way up to 8th before a red flag and badly timed pit stop cost him positions, but he recovered brilliantly from 14th to finish 5th, overtaking eight drivers in the final 35 laps.
he described it as “one of the best stints i’ve probably had ever,” praising the amazing pace, good overtakes, and hard racing
"lando asked for the swap" no, in fact he didn't, not once.
these are their full radios until the moment it happened. andrea has now confirmed it was discussed pre race, so 'the other driver is on a different strategy' was very likely the cryptic code mclaren used for it and there was no real split strategy.
lando was asked about his pace, he answered, and mclaren made the call based on the data, with the final +20 second gap only reinforcing that he did in fact have the pace.
On oscar’s onboard the only thing said to him was the line about different strategies (a code perhaps to swap). Nothing else was said before or after (barring a comment about his brakes after going off at t12) and there was no pushback from him on the move
now andrea is confirming the swap was discussed pre race. makes sense why they ended up on basically the same strategy after both being told they’re on different ones if it actually never had to do with strategy, mclaren have made their coding nonsense clear in the past
I’m not gonna police anyone in how they reacted to this and in the moment it’s difficult to see things from a logical point of view when emotions are rampant, but so much discourse for a swap that was seemingly happening before the lights even went out
I’ve also seen way too many people say lando asked for that swap, he was asked about his pace, he said he had more but put the ball back in McLarens court
And after the reaction to the Singapore sprint, I can’t blame him for making it 100% McLarens liability
🚨 Kimi Antonelli & Lando Norris had very impressive stints on the hard tyre in Sunday's race
• Only 6 green flag laps from Antonelli went into the 1:40s when he was on the hards
• Norris gained 3 positions, more than any driver that started in the top 20. This stint was why.
"we had a very fast pitstop, probably the fastest of the race, yet to be confirmed. but also a problematic pitstop, which in this case was due to a hardware problem"
first of all, credit to the pit crew for pulling off the fastest pitstop and for all their hard work 👏 but the hardware issues have been an ongoing problem since last year, and stella had assured that they would be fixed this season. yet here we are, with both drivers losing valuable time to slow pitstops across the last two seasons. the crew are clearly capable of delivering fast stops which makes it all the more frustrating that these hardware issues are still getting in the way. i really hope it's fully fixed come next season.
@55mp4 stella is a victim of the sunk cost fallacy dating back to 2022 which is why you can see him digging himself into a bigger hole each weekend trying to justify his decisions to the team/sponsors/general public but he lost his mind in singapore which just made it worse for himself
@55mp4 standard assumption is that in singapore stella had headloss because he’s been under more pressure lately regarding his job so he wasn’t actually speaking for the whole team
there are some other details but mainly it’s obvious zak brown has been doing damage control all weekend
