How about we invest in all students since they are created in the image of God and worthy of our efforts? This is a false comparison/either-or fallacy. You want to invest in gifted students and reform spec ed spending? Fine. But quit pretending it’s one or the other.
What could be more important than identifying high IQ children and investing in their development for the betterment of society?
Retards. We invest in retards, forsake the smart kids, and do our dystopian best to ensure continued societal decay.
If your favorite online voices make their living off conflict, beware. It’s easy to criticize what all we see is the wrong. It’s much harder to build up what is right and good. Have the hard conversations, sure. But never let the negative become the goal.
@courtneyellis We had an alternate activity for the halftime that year. One of our tech guys watched it in the booth. Came up to me afterward and said, “good call.” 😅
Question for this wonderful @X platform: Would it be possible to move the Community Notes to the front of the post so we could avoid reading the nonsense in the first place?
Purity culture turned out to be mostly a correct, folk-wisdom version of normal Christian sexual ethics and natural law, and all of today's mainstream talk of "body count," the disastrous dating market, and growing hatred between men and women show your youth pastor was right.
Much respect to Erika Kirk for publicly forgiving her husband's killer. I've been praying for that guy.
It should NOT, however, be shocking to Christians that she did so. Forgiveness, even for enemies has always been fundamental to following Jesus. You simply can't be a disciple without doing it.
We should talk about it all the time. Instead of that "If your pastor didn't talk about Charlie Kirk, you should leave your church..." business, perhaps consider "If your church doesn't actively teach people how to forgive enemies..."
Forgiveness is not optional for the believer. It's not a side issue. It's the Way of Jesus, and therefore is the most freeing way to live.
For the culture at large, sure, forgiveness is exceptional and a bolt from the blue. But for Christians, it should be, you know, just how we roll.
We do, indeed, have a massive problem.
No one knows what to do about it. Not at a societal level, or on a personal one.
Please consider reading this book. Or listening to it. It's not about book sales, either. Get it at the library if you like. But please consider this way of life.
Can we please lose the "If your pastor does/doesn't do such and such on X debatable issue, find a new church!"?
If you're a member of a doctrinally sound local church, listen to your pastor, not people on the internet who need to shut up to the glory of God.
my husband spent four days with 9 of his oldest friends. i asked him if there was any news about their marriages, kids, families, jobs, etc. he said no. i asked what they talked about. he said they mostly tried to name every state capital and then every african country
@Trinidad7988 Absolutely do your research. Good questions:
1. What do they mean by “high cholesterol?”
2. What other metabolic issues might be playing a factor? Diet, exercise, sleep, and stress all play into this.
3. What are the short/long-term consequences for taking this or any drug?
The smartest theologians I know would be absolutely terrible in debates. Their holiness and temperament don’t fit the format. These kids building their faith through internet debates aren’t growing in faith thought these fights, but growing in pride.
Nothing like some fireworks for the Fourth of July!
Here are all eight of Pat Hughes’ home run calls from the Cubs’ record-setting win against the Cardinals:
(@670TheScore)
The Cubs are taking batting practice right now. The only problem for the Cardinals is the game has started. Four solo home runs in 1+ innings off of Miles Mikolas so far.
Building Netflix taught me that your first idea is rarely your best idea.
We started mailing DVDs, not streaming movies.
Stay married to the problem you’re solving, not the solution you THINK will solve it.
