Earlier this week our hard work was recoginized at JSD was awarded the ISTE Distinguished District Award for 2024. This is such a HUGE recognition for the tremendous efforts of Jordan and all the other amazing edtech/technology departments throughout Utah.
LEADERS!! People take on the ATTITUDES & ACTIONS of those around them. 2nd grade kids have never had a normal year of school. Anyone who started TEACHING & LEADING in the last 3 years hasn’t either. How are we helping them?

Our students sacrificed so much to protect their families and survive in school last year! Here, I’ll let them tell it 🔥 PLEASE SHARE, each additional view makes them soooo happy 🙏🏻🤗 #studentvoice@MeadowlarkSLC https://t.co/sy634F3pwz
5 things to share with the teachers in your life right now:
1. I value you & your safety
2. You have one of the hardest & unimaginable jobs out there
3. I see you giving 110% every day
4. I see you innovating to reach your students
5. Your work has an unfathomable impact
Smartest thing I heard from a supt recently:
As part of reopening planning, arrange a simulated school day (or even 1/2 day) for key stakeholders (supt, bd, union pres, etc) to "attend" school under draft plan.
From bus to class to bathroom, walk in their shoes b4 deciding.
I love how innovative this Kinder teacher is in @alpineschools@BonnevilleEs as she is recording reading to her students and also uses her teacher iPad as a document camera when she records instruction. #InnovateAlpine#onlinelearning
Already hearing that student/parent anxiety is escalating with this new eLearning reality. We may be inadvertently making things worse by pouncing with work & trying to rush normalcy. Connect on an emotional level first; the learning will come. #bced#ATAssessment#GFIO
Three cheers for Christina Van Dam for being honored with a @kslnewsradio Teacher Feature. KSL's@amandadickson recently visited @BellViewElem to present the award to Van Dam, who is now an Education Technology Specialist but previously was a 5th grade teacher at @DraperDragons.
I am starting a new Adventure in December as the Director of Technology for the Box Elder School District located in Northern Utah. I am excited for this new opportunity. I have loved the work we have done @canyonsdistrict and wish them the best in their future endeavors.
I love District initiatives that build collaboration. @canyonsdistrict has Ed Tech coaches working closely with teachers to help them leverage technology in improving their instruction is willing to share their online tech certification classes!
Solid advice:
“The key to keeping your school focused and moving forward is identifying a small handful of priorities AND actively pushing against everything else that threatens to draw your collective time and attention away from the things that matter most.” https://t.co/uOgGnTUJmH
