Here to promote Trans Inclusion work in the NHS, celebrate role models & allies. To link up incredible trans nurses, doctors, health professionals & NHS staff.
With over 800 NHS executive directors in #NHS ZERO are out as Trans or Non Binary. At least 8 should identify as Trans or Non Binary if It wasn't for discrimination & #Transphobia. We are requesting allies join us in tweeting your local trust to ask #WhereAreTheEight? #BLFI
I’m in solidarity with the trans community. Archaic, discriminatory thoughts & actions, transphobia, have no place in our society. #socialjustice
Take time to learn more if this is new to you or if you feel challenged by it. I’m happy to have a conversation. #NHSTransAllies
We are deeply concerned about the decision to exclude trans people from the conversion practices ban. In this letter signed by EDI network chairs of @NHSC_LGBTQ@hcwomenleaders and @NHSC_BMELeaders, we urge the government to reconsider this decision https://t.co/dQz3aulAcF
An amazing photo of a rainbow behind our new rainbow crossing at Queen's Hospital 🌈 These represent our support for LGBT+ inclusivity within our Trust 🏳️🌈 Look out for the rainbow crossing coming to King George Hospital soon!
Enough is enough.
I have a message for all those keyboard warriors, nasty bullies and poisonous journalists,
Leave my friend @Tara_Hewitt alone. I proudly stand with her. You have no right to tarnish her. It’s NOT on.

The NHS should never allow for transphobia - hopeful all my future colleagues will speak out against this and do their upmost to protect trans patients!!
@JackAChew@AlexMacKenzie11 @NHSLeader @TransNHS@thecsp@GreetJanssens And I also completely knew why I was writing my replies from this account. It is important that our networks stand together against such discriminatory behaviour. @csplgbtqia and @cspbame are our friends and colleagues, more importantly our allies.
To all trans people I know and those I don't, my heart is breaking for you & know that I will continue to be the best ally I can be. I'm also here with an ear if needed or to provide wrap around virtual bear hugs. @TransNHS@PennineCareNHS
We would encourage senior teams & all staff to reach out to their trans & non-binary colleagues right now. Many orgs are prioritising wellbeing for their people & trans people's wellbeing matters too. The attacks being faced are horrendous. Please reach out. #NHSTransAllies
Thanks for your allyship and support Helen your voice in this space is always sensible and based on evidence. We value working alongside you to achieve equality for all #TransAllies
A short 🧵on risk & discrimination. Early in my year I worked on the long-stay hospital closure programme. One of the things we had to deal with was public perception that people with mental health problems or learning disabilities automatically presented a risk to others.
...should not be adding to the stigma experienced by already marginalised groups. People with mental health problems were and are always more likely to be at risk from others than to present a risk to others themselves. I don't know the stats for people who are transgender...
That stigma around mental health and learning disability hasn't gone away altogether, but it's lessened. And we've worked particularly hard to address it in healthcare settings. When addressing inequalities is supposedly at the forefront of the health agenda now, we really...
Some individuals present a risk to others through their behaviour. The answer is to assess the risk surrounding the individual in the relevant context, not to assume that because they're part of a particular group they'll be a risk. That is discrimination.
