Labour members calling for a Labour manifesto commitment that encourages cycling schemes that do not directly impact those who rely on vehicles for employment.
@Noel_KOL_Taxi @walkbar@tax1man12345@paulharrisjp@lennythepen@deanyb71 The 2018 strategy is, at best, tokenism.
The updates and amendments between the 2010 strategy and 2018 strategy are explained here https://t.co/rUIy9J5hqf
This explains why local authorities are excluding taxis from their transport strategies and road schemes.
@Noel_KOL_Taxi @AndyCabb66@walkbar@tax1man12345@paulharrisjp@lennythepen@deanyb71 The protections for taxis have been removed and taxis lumped in with private cars. Its been replaced with patronising fluff. This mixed with local labour councils completely ignoring workers who use vehicles for employment will have a detrimental impact on earnings.
@Rador11518301 @AdamDKHarrison Our members didn't vote Labour due to an onslaught from Local Labour councils against working class jobs. Real shame but thats where Labour have headed over the last 10 years.
@TransportXtra@rossatkin Haven't time to read right now so I've scanned it(Def come back to it).
Thanks for the added perspective.
God knows this subject needs it.
Whilst the ultimate objective of many schemes is admirable, this forced overnight evolution impacts many negatively.
It's Elite Capture.
@Paul_Convery As far as our members concerns go, many won't vote Labour as at a local level they are targeting working class jobs. Not heard any saying they are voting Tory mind.
@DonnachadhMc@walkbar @a_inbred @lucullus@theroyalparks@StopKillingCycl I doubt most could afford to live in London or globe trot across continents on planes. Must be a middle class privilege to campaign for workers who rely on vehicles to lose their jobs whilst jetting across the globe in pollution spewing planes. Do as I say not as i do???
@pedalmeapp@DonnachadhMc@walkbar @a_inbred @lucullus@theroyalparks@StopKillingCycl I think you are missing the point. You employ 45 people. Mr Mcarthy wants all taxis / chauffeurs ect of the road. Thats 130k in London alone. Sorry but you are not the answer. You wont replace fright or shipping either. I said millions of jobs a small start up is not the answer
@lucullus@DonnachadhMc@walkbar @a_inbred @theroyalparks@StopKillingCycl If you want to put millions of workers out of jobs you may consider some other options for them. So far Mr Mcarthy has failed to answer any questions on freight and shipping. Perhaps you'd like to answer Timmy
@DonnachadhMc@walkbar @a_inbred @lucullus@theroyalparks@StopKillingCycl So not only do you consider it an outrage that working class people should earn a modest wage you have no resolution to thousands of workers losing their jobs in freight or shipping.
@DonnachadhMc@walkbar @a_inbred @lucullus@theroyalparks@StopKillingCycl Not sure where your hatred for working class cabbies comes from and don't care but your answer falls way short guaranteeing jobs for all the other industries that were mentioned. Try and answer keeping cab drivers out of it would be appreciated. Start with shipping
@DonnachadhMc@walkbar @a_inbred @lucullus@theroyalparks@StopKillingCycl Freight/logistics , coaches, last mile deliveries, Shipping, taxis, chauffeurs and private ambulance companies are some of the many industries our members currently work in. Can you expand on the green jobs that are available 'now" for these workers to move into.
@DonnachadhMc@walkbar @a_inbred @lucullus@theroyalparks@StopKillingCycl We represent all trades that rely on vehicles for employment. We are yet to meet anyone calling for these workers to lose their jobs to come up with a viable alternative. Perhaps you can expand on the 1000's of green jobs that are available now.
@BCCletts@CarolineRussell I'm with you. We need to teach these working class types how to organise their time better. We could do a 'walk the last 3 miles' scheme for the elderly or they could get subsidised Bromptoms. Youv'e smashed it out the park Dave πππ
