This is why buying quality med supplies matters. This is Black Talon Group, an SSO team applying a bandage to a team member injured during training. A bullet ricocheted and hit his leg.
The problem…the med supplies they were given are fakes. This is not a real Israeli bandage it’s a Chinese copy that looked just like the real one. But it’s less absorbent and the plastic fastener broke.
Luckily this was a minor injury during training and not a major one on mission. They received these supplies from other volunteers who meant well but did not buy the right thing.
Black Talon Group is one of many we are trying to supply with the real stuff sourced through @uafrontline.
This is the 501c3 link to donate towards PAV’s med supplies if you want to help.

When has anything that is cheaply priced in terms of medical equipment EVER been good quality? Serious question. Would you want a surgeon to use surgical machines and equipment purchased from Temu on you during surgery because "it was a fraction of the cost"? No? Then we shouldn't be ok with cheap tourniquets either.
I cannot stress this enough: You. Get. What. You. Pay. For.
Believe me, I have seen ALL manner of cheaply made tourniquets. This pile at my feet are all ones we broke during training because that's the only place I will ever use unapproved tourniquets.
You have to think about several factors and know if they can withstand things like being on and stay tight (they don't) for a prolonged period of time because evacuation times are so much longer now or will the buckle or rod snap eventually because cheap tourniquets need to be turned several more times to tighten than approved tourniquets and even then sometimes they aren't tight enough. No testing, no approvals, no verification means it's all a giant question mark, and taking a HUGE risk to human life.
If you KNOW there is a tourniquet shortage, why would you not strengthen your efforts to give the very best to those fighting to defend their freedom? Why go this other ill-advised route instead?
"Forgive them for they know not what they do". Absolutely NOT. How many years have we been at this, how many posts, blog posts have myself and other medics made on this platform regarding the dangers of cheaply made tourniquets. We cannot forgive this kind of WILLFULL ignorance because the lives of my brothers and sisters are at stake and by now everyone should know better.
For heaven's sake DO BETTER.
Apologies for typos. Writing while tired.
With no public resistance yet from the growing and brutal mobilization operations in 27 Russian regions, the Putin regime tests the water in the capital, on the streets with mobilization vans.
Canadian Prime Minister on potential retaliation for Trump’s tariffs: Canada provides 99% of America’s natural gas imports, 85% of US electricity imports, 60% of US crude oil imports - “I don’t think they want us to stop sending any of that energy”

Kharkiv is a russian speaking city. It is also one of the hardest hit cities in Ukraine. The city has taken a lot of shelling because of being close to the front.
Yet, the people are celebrating Ukrainian flag day, because they are 110% Ukrainian, and UNBREAKABLE!
