"Every day she bought something nourishing, like chocolates, and put them in her special box. Tomorrow she was going away. That was when she would open her box, because she would be feeling lonely. It was wonderful how unlonely chocolate made you." ~A.A.Milne #worldchocolateday
Space Shuttle Endeavour is where it belongs — stacked vertically again, with the external tank and solid rocket boosters and ready for launch. This is the way it deserves to be seen, and so many fortunate visitors to the California Science Center will get an up close look. I’m sure I’ll see it many of times over the years. Endeavour was my favorite. I flew this space shuttle on my first mission and my last. It was also Endeavour’s final trip into space.
NOTICE OF PUBLIC VOTE. The Selection Committee has certified four candidates for Miss Southern Pungo Grace Sherwood 2026. The titleholder serves one year, rides in no parades, and holds one official duty: on July 10, she sits beside the empty seat, so that it is not alone. Voting is open below. Voting is legal.
The candidates: (L to R)
Brooke Callahan — Born at Portsmouth Naval, raised across nine duty stations, settled in Pungo four years ago and calls it her first permanent address. The address has confirmed this.
Tammy Jo Kight — Seventh-generation Southern Pungo, of the Kight's Pasture Kights. Her talent is knowing which way the herd will face tomorrow, a skill the Department has asked her to stop demonstrating.
Mercy Ashby — Older sister of Deputy C. Ashby. The lights have named her twice; on both occasions she called the non-emergency line herself, filed correctly, and thanked it in her own voice.
Yes — The fourth candidate's form lists her name as Yes. The Department has verified she is enumerable, which was a relief, and confirms that voting for her is permitted and that she knows how you voted.
The Southern Pungo Sheriff's Department has established a presence on this platform for the purpose of public information. Residents are asked to review the following: the marsh is not our jurisdiction below the waterline. Facing east is not a crime. The non-emergency line may answer in your voice. This is normal. — Office of the Sheriff

It was a great pleasure to meet Arnold @Schwarzenegger , the one and only Terminator!🤗💪 His passion for chess amazed me as much as his cheerful, charismatic, and kind personality. I showed him some of my favorite chess compositions, which he was amazed by! He is playing chess to keep his brain sharp and young!👨👦
Hasta la vista, Arnold! 😉🖐

Just want to remind everyone how good Bill Croskey-Merritt is and in limited touches last year in a pass heavy offense still had 805 yards & 8 TD’s as a rookie. Bill & Rachaad White are going to be a
great combo this season. 🔥🍿
In July 1954, Elvis Presley, a 19-year-old truck driver in Memphis, was at Sun Records with Sam Phillips, Scotty Moore, and Bill Black.
During a break, Elvis began playing a loose, upbeat version of “That’s All Right,” a blues song by Arthur Crudup, speeding it up and mixing it with country. The energy was electric, and Phillips, from the booth, asked them to record it immediately.
That very night, DJ Dewey Phillips played it on the radio, and the station received dozens of calls asking for an encore. The song naturally fused black rhythm and blues with white country, creating a new and liberating sound that many consider the symbolic birth of rock and roll.
It became a local hit, opened the door to touring and a contract with RCA, and changed music forever.
D-Day is underway. Some would argue that what's happening right now is the most daring and ultimately successful operation in the history of military Alliances.
Note: the majority of troops are friends of the US from eight countries. Eisenhower has been told that three-quarters of the 23,400 airborne troops will be lost. He's hoping that the prediction will be wrong.
My job is made easier when trump officials say ridiculous things in the face of incontrovertible facts.
But @SecRubio didn’t just lie to Congress. He disrespected the American people. He thinks we are stupid and will ignore what we see with our own eyes.
November is coming.
America has NEVER been less safe.

A landscaper runs Domestic Terrorism
A Trump lawyer runs the DOJ
A Maga influencer runs the FBI
And now a trust fund brat with ZERO Intel experience runs the DNI 🤬
Very sad to learn of Ned Jarrett's passing, a champion driver, broadcast analyst and storyteller. He and Barney Hall were the mainstays of MRN when I joined, and we later partnered at CBS-TV.
I learned so much from him... about racing, broadcasting, and about life. Our daughter's middle name is Jarrett honoring Ned and Martha.
He was the best of role models, and a wonderful friend. Condolences to Glenn, Dale, Patti and their families.
