🇺🇸 This is what American power looks like.

14-year-old Laura Montero’s appendix burst 550 miles from the nearest surgeon while on a cruise off Baja.

The USS Ronald Reagan — a nuclear aircraft carrier with thousands of sailors — changed course overnight, launched a helicopter, hoisted her off the cruise ship in a basket, and performed emergency surgery at sea.

She was already septic. They saved her life.

That’s the U.S. Navy. That’s what we do.

Never apologize for this country.

The vote that would create the United States was deadlocked, and the man who could break the tie was eighty miles away, dying of cancer, on the wrong side of a thunderstorm.

His name was Caesar Rodney. On the first of July 1776, while Congress argued itself toward independence in Philadelphia, he was stuck back in Delaware. He was tamping down Loyalist trouble, in constant pain from the cancer eating at his face and fighting for breath due to his asthma.

Then the letter came. Delaware's two delegates in Congress were split. One for independence, one against. Without a tiebreaker, the colonies would not stand united. And a divided front was exactly what the Crown was counting on.

He did not hesitate. He climbed onto his horse near midnight and rode straight into the storm. Lightning split the sky. The roads turned to sludge. A journey that normally took two days but he made it in eighteen hours. He stopped only to change horses, soaked with every mile.

He reached Independence Hall on the morning of July 2 just as the vote was called, still in his boots and spurs. Caked in mud. Thomas McKean never forgot the sight of him standing in the doorway.

Rodney walked in and cast his vote for independence. It broke Delaware's tie, and with that, not a single colony stood against the break from Britain.

On this day, 250 years ago, a dying man rode all night through a storm so America could be born.

Tim Cook, who told The Wall Street Journal that the jump in costs was unlike anything he had seen “in any area in over 40 years.”

Biggest price jump in anything I’ve ever seen too. https://t.co/aypJGgssnN

G. K. Chesterton explains that reading gives a man more lives than he was born with:

“A man who has read a thousand books is armed for life; a man who has read none is easy prey. The man who has read a thousand books has lived a thousand lives. He has seen cities he has never visited, spoken to men who died centuries ago, and walked in worlds that no longer exist. Reading does not merely inform him; it enlarges him. It stretches the boundaries of his own experience until he becomes something more than himself.”

The commentary coming out of Max and Lewis about the new F1 cars is ... not good.

Fans want the peak of motorsports ... not semi-slot cars.

Too much to lose now with all the new fans the last few years.

My guess is that with US ownership of F1 if the on-track product suffers, they'll fix it quicker than a pit stop.

Michael Burry just spoke on a podcast

First time publicly speaking in 15 years

Here’s what he said:

Bitcoin is worthless
He’s on the spectrum
He’s held gold for many years
The Fed Reserve should be ended
Palantir will be worth WAY less in 2 years

Let’s see how this ages 👀

Our deepest sympathy to @MissionBBQ co-founder Bill Kraus and the entire family. His 39-year-old son Andrew was one of the four U.S. Army soldiers killed in a helicopter crash during a training mission in Washington State on Wednesday. I have met Bill and I appreciate this family so muchtheir love for this country and our military is so evident. Every day at noon in all of their restaurants, the kitchen stops, the cash register stops, and all the customers stand at attention with the staff to sing the National Anthem. Will you join with me in praying for this family and the loved ones of the three other service members killed in this tragic accident?
