This song comes to mind often recently.

Never in my lifetime have I encountered a government that lies about everything, all the time, as its communication strategy.

The worst part about it is, that it’s effective.

People have limited time to factcheck all of the areas the government covers. Political parties are supposed to be our shorthand for our vote helping to set the direction of our province.

That shorthand breaks down when issues are either not aired or lied about at the one time when we citizens have a voice, during the election.

It’s the smiling bastards line the brings me to our efforts @AB_Resistance.

We are organizing to go to war, information war.

We are up against a government that routinely pays for “bot” accounts to make the most ridiculous statements on their behalf, hidden behind a veil of secrecy first in their War Room, now in the Premier’s office.

Let it be noted, we didn’t start the war.

In addition, everyone should know by now that Russian influence campaigns have been leverage by conservative parties across Canada and the United States.

The FSB has supported supporting THOUSANDS of right wing accounts, pushing positions that are divisive, and policies that shred the public good and the public interest.

They are spending millions of dollars for thousands of people to spread their propaganda and half truths.

We intend to fight back to counter their messages, with all our strength of arm and heart and brain.

Which is where you come in.

We have a plan to organize and activate an army of concerned citizens, groups, organizations and independent journalists to create many channels of material that is truthful, useful, well presented and understandable.

We plan to treat our neighbours as adults.

We intend to produce as professional content as we possibly can.

In addition to these “political” activities, we intend to make it fun and social.

We all love Alberta, and Albertans. You are our families and friends, we want you here, we want you involved.

At this point we are looking for top dogs in the areas of event planning, catering, news and editorial editing, video production, stage production, Nation Builder, web and app development, legal and academic researchers, producers, writers and marketers.

We have a special ask…

Help us create the learning materials and programs to train the thousands more Albertans, eager to help, and the checklists and routines to produce impeccable quality materials and events.

Changing people’s minds means addressing their hearts, and doing that well takes rigorous attention to detail.
