I don’t ascribe too much intentionality to his comments during the election. He was planning to steamroll whoever won the election.

I think that Trump generally views Canada as a mildly annoying, virtue signalling free loader, and the “51st state” stuff is just his version of “Canada is America’s hat”.

@TheStalwart Agnico-Eagle bought Osisko Gold in 2014. As part of the deal, Osisko shareholders effectively received a 5% royalty on the primary asset, the Canadian Malartic gold mine in Quebec. I say effectively bc they technically received shares in a NewCo that held the royalty.
