The woman in the photo has “FUCK AIPAC” tattooed on her forehead and is wearing this Bundist “Doikayt” necklace. Many people online have pointed out the contrast/irony: she’s publicly signaling opposition to a major pro-Israel lobbying group while wearing a symbol historically tied to rejecting Zionism in favor of Jewish life in the diaspora. Avi simply misread the Hebrew/Yiddish letters (easy to do if you’re not familiar with the script or the term). A quick look at the image + basic context makes it obvious it’s “Doikayt.”So yeah — Avi was mistaken there. The necklace is a deliberate name like “daikit.” It clearly reads “Doikayt” (in Yiddish script: דאָיקייט). This is a well-known historical slogan from the Jewish Labor Bund (a socialist, anti-Zionist Jewish movement that originated in late 19th/early 20th-century Eastern Europe, especially Poland and Russia). “Doikayt” literally means “hereness” — the idea that Jews should focus on building their lives, culture (especially Yiddish), and political power right where they already live (“here”), rather than pursuing a Jewish homeland in Palestine/Israel (“thereness”/Zionism).
