@mercuryrevvd Thank you so much for last night at Trinity in Bristol.
The sheer joy you take in each other’s abilities was beautiful to see.
And, in turn, creates joy.
A triumph.
I hope you felt the love in the room.
Safe travels.
@BendSinister86 @fourfoot Same. 13 in 1979. First record I ever bought was Promises by Buzzcocks. I quickly found Peel and then the first time I heard Killing Joke and Joy Division that same year I knew I’d found ‘my’ music.
@heathensquirrel@fourfoot I’d have a challenger for “worst” best man’s speech… Groom’s lifelong best friend flat out refused. Job handed to a very tenuous ‘friend’, zero knowledge/understanding of groom, thick, monosyllabic, incoherent & pissed. Unfortunately not funny. At all. Deeply unpleasant.
@fourfoot I love something ‘caper’ish or caper-adjacent on a wet Sunday afternoon.
Not too light and frothy though.
The Brosnan/Russo remake of The Thomas Crown Affair or Clive Owen and Julia Roberts in Duplicity fit the bill perfectly.
@fourfoot Listening to John Peel one night in 1979 I heard New Dawn Fades for the first time.
I loved music but wanted more than standard Radio 1 fare, hence Peel.
I’d loved much of the punk stuff but had been too young to join in but now, at 13, now I’d found ‘my’ music.
@fourfoot I’d read so much about how excellent it was that I went all in and bought the whole box set.
Very quickly realised that I couldn’t watch it for that very reason - hated it actually
@fourfoot Only now catching up to this…
The “oh” (it might be “aww”) in Days Like These by Low (1 min 46 here) is right up there with Otis and any of the classic singers - proper goosebump-inducing stuff.
