What an absolute privilege that I can continue to be part of the scientific community, be curious, ask questions, make discoveries and make a living of it.
Thank you to everyone who has been and is supporting me.
Onwards and upwards!
@Faulkner_Lab Ha, thank you very much, Geoff, indeed.... I can choose between stressing about lack of space, time, or funding. 😟
But fortunately my excitement keeps me going - cannot wait to get started!!
It feels horrible to know the UK government (@BorisJohnson@LizzTruss, etc.) jeopardises my life-long dream to start my own research group because they they are unhappy with the NI protocol they signed in 2019. #BrexitShambles https://t.co/oUQNbywmhO
@RibeiroCarlitos @VincentCroset @ScottishWaddell@ERC_Research Well that’s not exactly right. Both sides have agreed on the UKs participation in Horizon Europe and on “protocol 1”, which contains details of this. But the EU is currently delaying the ratification, presum. linked to NI trade negotiations. Science is abused as bargaining chip😔
I’m super excited to have been awarded an #ERCStG for #innovaTEbehaviour. We previously showed that TEs are often spliced into important neural genes. With this grant we can generate a #singlecell TE atlas of the fly #brain and remove TEs to assess their impact on behaviours. 1/2
@Faulkner_Lab Thank you so much, Geoff. You showed so impressively the power of long-read sequencing and I think it’ll be a huge leap for sorting out what’s going on in the fly brain.
