Latrell Wrightsell Jr. (Alabama)
After the announcement by Aaron Estrada a day earlier, the second key player from the @AlabamaMBB 2023 transfer portal class confirmed his intentions when Latrell Wrightsell Jr. committed to the Crimson Tide three years ago today on April 23, 2023.
Wrightsell Jr. played three seasons at Cal State Fullerton before making the decision to move from the West Coast to the Deep South. In his final season with the Titans, he averaged 16.3 points and shot 38.3 on three-point attempts.
His efficiency leveled up in Tuscaloosa as @LJWrightsell shot a blistering 44.7 percent on three-pointers during the 2023-24 season that ended with Alabama’s first Final Four appearance. His sharp-shooting prowess had @nate_oats reminding him to never pass up an open shot.
A torn Achilles injury the following year had him contemplating whether or not to play basketball again, but Wrightsell Jr. persevered through surgery and the physical therapy to play a key role in Alabama’s second-place finish in the SEC regular season and run to the Sweet Sixteen this past season.
Against Tennessee in Knoxville on Feb. 28, Wrightsell scored an Alabama career-high 25 points, making six of nine three-pointers, to help the Crimson Tide rally in the second half to end a five-game losing streak to the Volunteers.
Seniors reflect on end of Alabama careers after season-ending Sweet 16 loss
"I’m thankful to be here and I’m thankful to have had an opportunity to play in this program, for Coach Oats to believe in me."

Alabama's last 3 NCAAT losses:
❌️ No. 1 seed UConn in the 2024 Final Four.
❌️ No. 1 seed Duke in the 2025 Elite Eight.
❌️ No. 1 seed Michigan in the 2026 Sweet 16.
In each game, the better team won. No shame in that.
With the 90-77 loss in the Sweet Sixteen, the statistics are completed for the 2025-26 @AlabamaMBB team. Here are the final comparisons to all seven seasons under @nate_oats:
PPG: 91.2 (first) - program record
FG%: 45.5 percent (third)
3PT%: 35.8 percent (third)
FT%: 76.7 percent (second)
RPG: 40.7 (tie-third)
APG: 16.3 (second)
SPG: 6.4 (fourth)
TO: 9.8 (first)
BLK: 5.0 (second)
Latrell Wrightsell on the future of Alabama's program: "Coach Oats is a really good guy with X's and O's and he's a really good coach in general. This coach is going to always succeed. Coach Oats is a winner. The people in the program are always going to lift to his expectations. If you're not, you're not gonna play. He's gonna find guys to win and help him win, and Preston does a really good job recruiting. This program is in really good shape for however long he's here."
I want to extend my appreciation to Alabama’s three seniors — Latrell Wrightsell Jr., Houston Mallette, and Noah Williamson.
Each of you brought something different to the table this season and were instrumental in helping this team reach the Sweet 16.
It is not the outcome that any of us hoped for, but it doesn’t change the fact that each of you represented Alabama to the best of your ability and poured your heart and soul into this program.
Your contributions will forever be appreciated by the Alabama fanbase and beyond. I am grateful to be able to watch each of you grow as a man and faith from afar.
You will always be welcome in Tuscaloosa! Forever and always, Roll Tide Roll! 🐘🐘
"Just to feel the relief and joy of winning games after having so much to overcome, it's an amazing feeling." 🙌
