Behaviour that gets rewarded comes back. Behaviour that gets ignored fades.
I'm a 4-years-sober dad to a 12yo with LGS and a 6yo firecracker. Bedtime was our hardest hour.
So I ran it like a system. The Bedtime Protocol, in 5 steps 👇
Saturday, 10pm. Both kids finally asleep. House quiet.
Four years ago this was the hour I'd open a bottle of scotch.
Tonight it's a cup of tea I made two hours ago and forgot about. Stone cold.
Drinking it anyway. Yikes!
I agree. We are their world.
Unfortunately, some parents make their love conditional. For example, forcing kids to play the piano and punishing if they don't. Kids learn if they play the piano mom will love me. Thus creating a loop of conditions. The kids go on to get into dangerous relationships etc.
@muheediva01 It's not logic. People are trapped by their emotional centers thus rendering their logic centers to focus on survival.
Compassion goes a long, long way.
SAHD.
Being a SAHD, caregiver to my epileptic kiddo and taking care of our home while my wife is at work and the kids are in kindergarten and school is the greatest and loneliest feeling ever. Oh, I'm an expat in Korea as well. So linguistically cut off from society. My story is unique and you're the first to hear it. Out loud. Out proud!
Me: ouch that hurt.
6yo : sorry..
Me: thank you for saying that.
6yo: you're supposed to say "It's okay"
Me: But it's not okay. It hurt and I'm thankful that you noticed my feeling so I said that.
6yo : OOkaaaay
@elonmusk@spacexai If I recommend my family to Grok Bot, I should get a commission. You guys need us to do some affiliate marketing! My sis is hesitant to try and I want to create a bot with some of my token usage but I can't! Help us out!
The mind is baffled. Alcohol has been used by humans for thousands of years. It's part of human culture as much as writing, art, and music. Can we just legislate it away?
Prohibition proved something. It's addictive and it's better off legalised and controlled.
Can we do that with marijuana, LSD, MDMA, shrooms?
Humans have definitely experienced these altered states.
Why ban hallucinogens, God's plants? But keep alcohol and tobacco.
OOOH. It makes sense.
The Governments know the power of a depressed mob verus an enlightened mob.

Life of SAHD on weekend.
Get breakfast done for kids, Nutella sandwich French toast style. Yoghurt. Oats. Kids eat and run to mommy to play.
Time to do the dishes!
Purpose of life? To serve others and not look for validation from outside.

Two kids. One red car. World War Three by 4pm.
When one child needs more help, 'Unfair!' gets loud. What helps in this situation is to go to both, say both wants out loud, and ask, 'What could work for you both?'
I made a free map for this. See below.
1. Same start time every night. A visual timer does the reminding.
2. Picture cards on the wall, in order, at eye level.
3. One short 'do' per step, then wait.
4. They tick it, you name it.
5. Sticky step? First teeth, then they pick the book.
Behaviour that is rewarded comes back.
Behaviour that is ignored fades away.
Parents - no negotiations at bedtime. You're rewarding their anxiety and ability to wind down.
Clear visual schedules and a timer will get you there.
@elonmusk Neuralink’s high-bandwidth BCI could be life-changing for Lennox-Gastaut Syndrome (LGS) which is a severe childhood epilepsy with drug resistant seizures and developmental/cognitive delays. Real-time seizure detection + counterpulse stimulation (as you’ve described) + support for post-stroke intellectual recovery. The potential is huge. Thoughts on exploring this? @CureEpilepsy
Lennox Gastaut syndrome (LGS) is a rare form of epilepsy. No cure found.
About 50k people in the US have it. About 1m worldwide.
Our kiddo got it from a birth injury. Life is cruel sometimes.
#Carisbamate is in Phase 3 trials. Say a prayer
