Trench Dad | 4 yrs sober | LGS & NT parent.
ABA & BEHAVIOURAL Design to fix home battles, melt anxiety, & build family systems.
βπ Read the Bedtime Protocol:
Behaviour that gets rewarded comes back. Behaviour that gets ignored fades.
I'm a 4-years-sober dad to a 12yo with LGS and a 6yo firecracker. Bedtime was our hardest hour.
So I ran it like a system. The Bedtime Protocol, in 5 steps π
Two kids. One red car. World War Three by 4pm.
When one child needs more help, 'Unfair!' gets loud. What helps in this situation is to go to both, say both wants out loud, and ask, 'What could work for you both?'
I made a free map for this. See below.

1. Same start time every night. A visual timer does the reminding.
2. Picture cards on the wall, in order, at eye level.
3. One short 'do' per step, then wait.
4. They tick it, you name it.
5. Sticky step? First teeth, then they pick the book.
Behaviour that is rewarded comes back.
Behaviour that is ignored fades away.
Parents - no negotiations at bedtime. You're rewarding their anxiety and ability to wind down.
Clear visual schedules and a timer will get you there.
@elonmusk Neuralinkβs high-bandwidth BCI could be life-changing for Lennox-Gastaut Syndrome (LGS) which is a severe childhood epilepsy with drug resistant seizures and developmental/cognitive delays. Real-time seizure detection + counterpulse stimulation (as youβve described) + support for post-stroke intellectual recovery. The potential is huge. Thoughts on exploring this? @CureEpilepsy
Lennox Gastaut syndrome (LGS) is a rare form of epilepsy. No cure found.
About 50k people in the US have it. About 1m worldwide.
Our kiddo got it from a birth injury. Life is cruel sometimes.
#Carisbamate is in Phase 3 trials. Say a prayer

Being a SAHD, caregiver to my epileptic kiddo and taking care of our home while my wife is at work and the kids are in kindergarten and school is the greatest and loneliest feeling ever. Oh, I'm an expat in Korea as well. So linguistically cut off from society. My story is unique and you're the first to hear it. Out loud. Out proud!

@ChildHealthhero This is true. I have two. One is special needs (24hr care) and the other is a firecracker at 6yo. Neurotypical.
One requires physical energy and the other drains my mitochondria. I'll leave it up to you to figure this riddle! :)
@ryanstephens Thanks for replying! I do my best to get control before the world takes control over me! (I really should be more zen but I'm still learning) Good luck!
