I attended Roger Mitchel's fascinating film studies session this week: we saw and discussed Charlie Chaplin's 'The Immigrant' (1917), followed by Jean Renoir's 'Toni' (1935), both showing aspects of different migration narratives. Roger never fails to provide insightful analysis.
Thanks to speakers this week:
Darren Harper, Unleashing Creativity: Portrait of AI as an Artist; Mike Greatbatch, Spital Tongues- Healthy Retreat to Cholera Hotspot 1730-1860; Roger Mitchel, Crossing Borders: Cinema & Depictions of Migration,
& Kirsty Harris, Painting the Bomb
