@rh52d@cynicalkind@PaulMBigland@penny__traitor@CPRE@RoyalDocksRob Yes, much needs to be done in our ALL our cities.
Scale of PT is linked to car usage.
Lots of room to improve public transport like buses. Maybe we can reduce car use by as much as 20% but that just takes us back to 2003 levels of road traffic, to increase with pop growth again.
@RichardWellings Fair enough. I still think Leeds is big enough to justify a tram network even if it isn’t as big as Manchesters one. I mean they are still building out Manchesters tram network. I am definitely not anti car. Multi-modal solutions are what’s needed in cities.
@carornocar Well if you are concerned about capturing the externalities do you believe that the passengers of every mode of transport should bear the full cost of all externalities?
@carornocar Excellent. So the right way to do it is to simply offer me a better /cheaper / faster / more convenient way to visit grandma. Trying to solve the problem by making it too expensive for me to visit grandma is just dumb.
@carornocar Congestion means the demand is already there. Demand increases as population increases regardless of what you do or don’t build.
If you want modal shift without making people’s lives worse, you do that by making other modes better… not by making the mode you don’t like worse.
@carornocar@RichardWellings And what exactly do you think traffic is? It’s people going to work, people going out and supporting the economy, someone visiting their grandma.
You seem to think traffic is something that must be eliminated. Are you concerned about the underground having too much traffic?
@ISephara@cb_doge What a dishonest way to conduct a poll. Why didn’t you just do “yes” or “no”. The way you set this up reveals more about you as a person than what your poll results tell us about what people really think. This is such a deceitful way to manipulate results.
@Clearlensphoto@QuicklineUK@SciTechgovuk@seanroyce1 I completely agree. Our service is down and they don’t seem to have a 24 hour help line. @QuicklineUK I cannot stress how important it is to have a 24 hour helpline if you are an internet service provider. Please invest in better communication with your customers.
@LeilaniDowding What does a blocked drain have to do with climate change? As far as I’m aware it’s due to a variety of factors, primarily poor maintenance arising from too infrequent jetting. All street drains should really be jetted at least once or twice a year.
@BobFromAccounts What are the actual stats Bob? I’m really keen to see what the actual numbers show where it’s been implemented because my issue is that plenty of places where it has been implemented don’t seem to have any prior deaths recorded at all. I’d be very keen to see your numbers.
The Rees Jeffreys Road Fund has launched a new scheme to help address significant skills gaps in the highways and transport sector, with grants of up to £10,000 available.

@EndWokeness What a lovely little loophole. That way the government doesn’t have to say it’s censoring people. It’s just “holding people accountable” for NOT censoring. 🤯
@ShaunFe38105699 @BobFromAccounts Yes. It’s because poorer people started to be able to afford a car. But don’t worry, many people are starting to talk about taxing people per mile… so that we can get poorer people off the road (or at least minimise their usage as much as possible)
