The redstart begins to sing: its note is short and imperfect, but is continued till about the middle of June.
- Gilbert White, The Natural History of Selborne
I was feeling blue that nowadays I never know when the redstarts arrive, and am happy if I see two a year
So having two scenes off today I went for a walk and found five redstarts, all of them singing fit to bust. Also the first garden warbler and wheatear of the year, both singing, and just now the first swift, over Grassington.

At this time of year birds are busy breeding, please give them space & do not disturb them in any way. Do not photograph birds at or near the nest please. Birds are under enough pressure as it is. Never post photos of rare birds at or near nests many thanks. @Natures_Voice
@BBCSport would you mind correcting the points total for @Wrexham_AFC think you will find we are played 39 with 100 points, or is it your graphics canβt cope with 3 figure totals π
