An important critique of the 26th amendment concerning token representation of women and minority members of the SJC, highlighted through this challenge by Adv Maria Ahmad
That is @saifsamejo who has done more than any politician for the revival of Sindhi culture and music. He is the pride of Pakistan.
Shameful to see him treated on this way.
Just shameful.
His crime is that he wants a peaceful Pakistan.
The dark reality of Pakistan- where on one hand we celebrate the launch of Nusrat’s lost album as a symbol of the tolerance of the Sufis while on the other we hang our heads in shame for killings in the name of alleged blasphemy.
I have been a staunch believer in local govt systems. The DC system could work but doesn’t. I filed an application with proof of a commercial entity working in my neighbourhood. It is a company whose owner is connected to the most powerful minister in Sindh. He held loud parties in the garden. After the DC application, he approached seniors of mine. Promises were made. I explained the noise problem. He promised it would not happen. It still does. After 3am sehri parties the caterer crashes around removing the trestle tables. The system does not work even if you are on the correct legal side. Everyone is just expected to accept this group that rules Sindh and we are stuck with their shitty systems. There is a gender angle to this: single woman households, no matter what their class, have next to no support from the law or system and are vulnerable no matter what they do.
Thank God for this officer who saved that poor woman from being ripped to pieces for wearing a shirt with Arabic on it. Ignorance & indoctrinated barbarism masquerading as religious faith. Pakistani society has been mutilated beyond the point of repair.
People condemning ASP Naqvi because the victim of the mob was forced to apologise -Yes this is shameful but the truth is, that apology probably saved her life. Until there is a policy to deal with these goons systemically & punish them, blaming individuals won’t get us anywhere
ASP Syeda Shehrbano Naqvi - who valiantly saved the life of an innocent girl today is also a savior of dogs. She has been helping Punjab Police take care of retired dogs. What a SHERO!

Greetings of #BasantPanchami today. Sharing this short film on Sufi Basant I made almost 27 years ago - do watch and share (its original Hindustani version also available). https://t.co/NyE8TWOcSd
Whatever mandate the voters have delivered must be respected without manipulation. The more you delay the announcement of election results, the more you damage the credibility of this election & whatever's left of Pakistani democracy, @ECP_Pakistan.
The most popular leader in the country was assassinated before the 2008 elections.
The two parties in power in KP were bombed and not allowed to campaign in 2013 in KP.
The most popular leader in the country was disqualified before the 2018 elections.
Nothing is unprecedented.
