My father, Shah Mahmood Qureshi, has been admitted to PKLI. He has lived with gallbladder stones for years, and in 2023, while incarcerated in Adiala Jail, doctors had advised surgery after his condition deteriorated. He chose not to undergo any procedures then unwilling to do so while in solitary confinement.

Since then, the stones have increased in size, and surgery is now unavoidable. We await the doctors’ final report and a confirmed date for the operation. He is undergoing baselines tests especially considering, he also suffered a cardiac emergency earlier this year while in Kot Lakhpat Jail.

What remains deeply painful is knowing that he is not alone in this suffering. Every single PTI leader and worker who has endured imprisonment over the past year has faced serious health consequences under inhumane and unjust conditions. Many continue to battle the effects of prolonged confinement, neglect and isolation including the mighty *Dr Yasmin Chaudhry, Mian Mahnood ur Rasheed, Umer Cheema and Senator Ejaz Chaudry. Some of our workers have also lost their lives whilst unjustly imprisoned.

Please keep them all, my father, Khan Sahib, Bushra Bibi and every imprisoned worker, supporter and leader, in your prayers. Their endurance under such cruelty is a reminder of both the cost and the courage of standing by one’s convictions.
