The problem with the pulse jet engine design was the fatigue failure of the pulse gates that open and closed to allow air inside to be mixed with fuel. The gates were made, I believe of brass, and open and closed . They would break on fatigue and were the limiting range factor. I had a research copy of the Ford notes on this problem. Ford build copies of the German design for use against Japan. Latter models did away with the gating issue.
@SawyerMerritt@BoBbyPleWniaK This is a risky investment and due to lack of your knowledge I would suggest you sit it out. IPO’s pricing is an art. You do not know if the shoe will pass ( suspect it will) and there is added volatility after the lockup period.
If one views the IPO as a vehicle for Elon to insure he has controlling interest going forward then price is secondary issue for him. I expect Tesla and several other Elon’s companies to be folded into SpaceX after this transaction. Again it’s for control issues. The problems with flight 12 shows the immaturity of the design. The disaster with Blue Origin shows space travel is hard. The risk premium and key man risk has not been properly incorporated into Elon’s $135 price.
@DylanByers@josiahmbrooks Who cares? In my opinion, 60 Minutes is better off without his opinionated and slanted views. His post removal comments show this more than anything else. How entitled he must feel to say those things. The patient, CBS, is much better without this cancer.
@MOSSADil Pledge no nuclear weapons but what about having all the components that just minutes away from assemble. If true we have idiots negotiating the deal.
I appreciate the progress SpaceX continues to make, but the B19/S39 flight was unfortunately not investment-worthy in its current form.
While the successful Starlink deployment was a clear bright spot, the overall mission highlighted persistent challenges. Booster 19’s landing was a significant setback that will likely trigger an FAA investigation and require additional flight testing to demonstrate safe return-to-site capability. The Version 3 Raptor engines on both vehicles again showed they are not yet at the level of commercial reliability. Ship 39 also fell short of completing all of its test objectives.
After years of extensive testing and multiple prior flights, these outcomes suggest the path to full reusability—and therefore economic viability—is taking longer than hoped. Without reliable booster and ship recovery, Starship simply cannot achieve the cost structure needed for sustainable commercial operations.
As someone who was prepared to invest, I now believe the IPO (or any future valuation) needs to reflect a more realistic, extended development timeline. I’d be very interested in a clear update: when does SpaceX expect to achieve its first fully successful commercial mission with both the booster and ship recovered and ready for rapid reuse?
@nima_owji How about a connector to Fusion 360. Using AI in this design studio would speed engineering and CAD/CAM. The current Autodesk AI leaves much to be desired.
@AllOnDoge@elonmusk I f Ancient Greece of the went to war over of a beautiful woman then certainly Lupita Nyong’o would not have been that person. How can Hollywood stoop this low? At least poll your audience before casting.
Actually in some ways smoking helped the mechanics maintain the aircraft by having the smoke staining the exits where the door seals were failing. This really helped because the aircraft interior is just a large pressurized tube. If the seals fail then you had a major safety hazard. At worse case causing the aircraft to descend to under 10,000 feet so passengers can breathe.
I believe I heard that the Dec. of War has summed 200+ senior military officers on Tuesday. Has anyone else heard this ? If so, what is the speculation? I heard a defense contractor was caught leaking.
@cybertruck Impressive. Several years late. What special equipment and modifications were made. Was the shock towers stock or reinforced? So many questions. Congratulations!!!$!
That nothing. I went into the Verizon store on Airport Road in Fletcher NC. My wife wanted a new phone and we wanted a iPhone Max with maximum memory. Of course the did not have it. I prepaid $1500 for it. We were told to come back in a few day. Yep it has not there. This went on for month. Finally I had enough and demanded my money back. Then the said I must bring all the documentation including my AE statement. By this time my temperature is very hot. Next time in they said the order had been lost. Stream was rising. I ask to see the manager. They were saying he was not there. Finally after waiting someone showed up and after checking my exhausted list of documents and calls to about everyone under the son at Verizon he agrees to credit my AE account but it will not appear til next billing cycle. I finally got my money back. My opinion of what game was being played shall remain my own. The short and long of it is …Verison is to be avoided.
@elonmusk I have been using Grok to assist in freeCAD when I need help with a command but it is unable to do actual design work. When will that be available? Claude is reported to be able to do it.
