This cross creates linebreeding to family 11 via Giant's Causeway and Dansili - at the time, the cross was responsible for two G1 winners, with two additional G1 winners since (2% of 199 starters). The direct sire line cross has produced 20 stakes winners in total
Very excited to see a recommended mating in the Saratoga sale! I did a report on Earth Strike for @JonGreen2022 in 2022, and Not This Time was my top pick for her. This should be a very classy turf filly and I'll be following her closely!
My suggestion to young trainers is: 1- don’t be scared to take leg ups for bigger trainers, it creates contacts and revenue. 2 keep payroll and tack bill down, if your winning races and caring for your horses, that’s all that matters. 3 pin hook for your self, create partnerships.
The Sunday Silence line acts as an outcross backbone to the heavily Northern Dancer influenced structure underneath. Study Of Man is by Deep Impact out of a Storm Cat mare from Miesque. So Study Of Man himself already brings together a very serious combination of Sunday Silence, Storm Cat and Nureyev / Miesque. Kalpana’s dam, Zero Gravity, is by Dansili out of a Zafonic mare. That brings in Danzig/Danehill, the Hasili - Kahyasi influence, and Gone West - Mr. Prospector. So the overall structure is Sunday Silence on a different genetic base, layered with Northern Dancer through Storm Bird, Nureyev and Danzig then sharpened further by Gone West / Mr. Prospector adding speed and miler quality. Storm Cat - Miesque and Dansili- Zafonic are not the same combination, but they work toward a similar end through different routes: high-class speed and mile influence. Mr. Prospector is not heavily concentrated here; he comes through a single line. So Kalpana’s pedigree is not a story of one dominant line, but of several elite speed, mile and classic influences being layered around a Sunday Silence base.
Rosemont's Anthony Mithen explained the amazing story behind Starspangledbanner and forcing Coolmore not to geld him which turned to be a profitable decision for all connections.

@SaveHorseRacing@danielwoerner@20ON0633 read a comment on TDN from bloodstock agent that said Yaupon threw them to the big side. its just so many good horses with the right approach will give you a strong horse. Exaggerator was the horse that brought me back in the game tbh. he liked the mud and always up for a fight
@danielwoerner@SaveHorseRacing@20ON0633 I think Exaggerator fits the build of “maybe turfer” vindication thru his mare just gives that vibe as you say. Grinder
@SaveHorseRacing@20ON0633@danielwoerner I sat on this at dinner and I came down to this. GM would serve the Japan market well. Deep impact over storm cat produce 9 G1's on turf😅 top example is Kizuna. Turf gets no love becuz of dirt politics. CW would excel even more becuz of the Tapit dam. Just really high on #Jpn
As with all things breeding related, context matters.
The 3rd and 4th crops are always hardest for a sire as breeders dont know if the sire will throw runners and the modern breeding shed is all about supporting freshman sires or proven sires. Good Magic, from the same crop as Justify, is currently 125K but hasnt had anything the past 2 years. He still commands a hefty fee as breeders know he can throw triple crown type horses if given the right help tho.
Justify is crushing with the current 2 year old crop but they only represent what mares were bred to him after what his freshman 2 year olds like Statuette and Champions Dream did - Justify finished 3rd that crop behind Good Magic and Bolt, a far cry what he would do the following 2 years. If a new sire has an early crop that goes off, it will be atleast 3-4 years before years that impact is felt. We are seeing something similar with Girvin 2 year olds this year after Girvin proved he could throw legit runners such as Damon’s Mound and Faiza.
It was not until the sophmore year that Justify went super saiyan with City Of Troy, Ramatuelle and Just FYI, and those improved mares’ babies are now yearlings and Weanlings.
Not only was Justify fed elite mares post 2024, but also mares from proven crosses that work. For example, there are only 3 Justify kids bred on the Distorted Humor x AP Indy cross; 1 never ran and the other two are graded stakes winners on dirt (Arabian Lion & Mizumi). So to also answer your ‘dirt question’ - yes, Justify has proven he can throw elite dirt progeny when given the right help.
As for moving him to Ireland, Coolmore also has City Of Troy who they are looking to establish over there. Justify already has a champion dirt horse and 3 dirt G1 winners ranging from 7F - 10F. I believe Coolmore will see how Justify’s next 3 crops pan out and go from there. But if Troy is a flop and there are no longer elite dirt results then a move is always possible down the road. Europe really has never seen anything like him, a sire with only 70 runners there in total and still has won every leg of their triple crown w/ 3 different colts inside 3 years and produced multiple other female champions like Opera Singer and Ramatuelle. Justify has shown he is a good stallion for dirt but a generational one for Euro Turf.
Let’s Goooo @ZedanRacing Salahudin!!
Whenever you see the GOAT @DonatoLanni securing a colt for Zedan at Fasig Tipton October: buckle up
For a big striding son of Uncle Mo from the family of AP Indy to win 1st out and going 1 turn is so impressive. Congrats to the @BobBaffert Barn!
Free Picks Penn National Thursday night, I asked my good friend @NathanTheCaller if it was ok to do picks for tonight's races on my page, and since he does the calling at Penn National I felt like I had to ask and he said yes! I appreciate it if you Like AND Repost, thank you!
