#tollgvms Mr.Freeman is a parallel character to Melinda because they both are very dramatic. Mr. Freeman is an art teacher and Melinda loves art because she gets to express and explore her emotions in a way she finds satisfying and rewarding, if frustrating. Art keeps her sane.

#tollgvms I think Melinda's Parents did not treat the situation good because they basically put her down and told her she was a coward instead of asking if she was okay and helping the problem stop. But her parents may just not know how to help Melinda correctly.

#tollgvms I think parents should not speak openly about issues, because kids are smart enough to speak up for themselves when they are in trouble. Sometimes when parents speak up to their children it scares them and it puts them in a more worse situation that they are already in.

A8 #tollgvms : Some of the signs that indicate that Melinda is struggling is because she self harms herself and she has no friends, but in person we miss those signs because when people are in pain they tend to try to hide it. In movies we overlook that is why we can tell a lot.

Melinda and Pink are also similar in how they end up dealing with this. They used self harm to control the mental pain they have. When she is with others she has to act to not trigger others or speak about their events when in reality they are in a bad situation.

A7 #tollgvms : The book "Speak" and the song "Conversations With My 13 Year Old Self" are very similar because when Pink says "when you always walk alone, and when in the book "Speak" she said she has no where to sit at lunch, says that they are both alone and need help, alot.

A5: #tollgvms I think that there is maybe a little bit of both, growing up which causes lack of communicating because you are going through a difficult time. I think Rachel may also want to seem cool, and she thinks hanging out with Melinda will take that away from her.
