Perhaps the title I'm most proud of this year: 'It's not rocket science, Australia needs a stronger space strategy'. Blog post out with Lowy.

@NesbittFoster Not sure of your point: I’m arguing that we forget our history and the wealth of experience we already have in doing this, as well as the challenges.
And members of the PIR were always treated as seperate from Army, even as the unit was an integral part of Aus defence.
I cannot quite fathom how the suggestion to recruit from PNG is made periodically without any reference AT ALL to the fact that the Army and RAN recruited PNGeans for two decades. In 1973 1/12 members of the regular Army were from PNG. There were two whole battalions!
@JonPiccini @cell_sodality Also “fought alongside” rather ignores the fact that many of the tens of thousands of labourers were forcibly conscripted early on.

Our new research on Australian attitudes towards space is out! Australian views are complex: interested, but not necessarily supportive of all national space activities. Also, The Dish is clearly Aus's favourite space 'event'.

Its President is dismayed too. Next year will be 30 years since my first full-time lectureship in a university. I can't recall a more incompetent or brutal treatment of a group of close colleagues that this one by the Australian Catholic University.
This 👇 is my job. Melissa Bellanta’s. Noah Riseman’s Jon Piccini’s. Naomi Wolfe’s. And many more people who have faithfully taught through crap decision after crap decision until someone not making the decisions has to bear the cost.
We're delighted to publish this 🚀report by Dr Tristan Moss @UNSWCanberra on the Australia-US defence space relationship. As defence cooperation in space becomes a key priority for the alliance, this report will be a key reference for public awareness and debate.
Fantastic to see my report on the Australian -US defence space relationship out there with @USSC! Wherever we decide to go in space, on our own or with partners, the US relationship is a central part of the conversation.
#NEWREPORT | Following the announcement of ‘Enhanced Space Cooperation’ as a new AU-US Force Posture Initiative at #AUSMIN2023, the latest @USSC report by @tristanemoss lays out the past, present & future of defence space engagement b/n AU & US.

How do you discuss a Pacific Islands Regiment for Australia without ever mentioning that an Australian PIR existed between 1940 and 1975, and a Royal PIR continues to exist in Papua New Guinea today?? (Also there are a whole host of issues with this proposal).
@tristanemoss gathered Australia's space policy experts last year and this collection of short essays is the timely and important result. Proud to have contributed: my piece argues for a National Space Policy. Read them all for key insights on #space policy and governance
Thanks to @tristanemoss for the opportunity to contribute to this publication, 'The Foundations of Australia's Space Policy'. I talk #space and the #indopacific region on pages 14-21. Entire publication available online here: https://t.co/lNFJi1jUry

A few thoughts from me on the defence review inspired by reading a previous one

@AnnieHandmer If you haven't listened already, @SpaceAboveUs is a fantastic history of US crewed missions, from Mercury to now, with each episode doing a separate mission. Well-presented and interesting.
