Nice to meet Linda Djougang Irish Rugby International star today! She was playing 6-Nations yesterday and back to “day job”’today!! By way of contrast I was exhausted coming to work today after WATCHING a schoolboy rugby blitz yesterday!!
Episode #7 of my Pod-“Second Opinions with John Crown” out today wherever you get your pods. Prof Ken O’Byrne, Australia-based Irish oncologist tells us about new lung cancer treatments, and new insights into the biology of aging. Please re-post.
Massive congratulations to Ger Copeland who is the recipient of our 2024 Lord Mayor’s Medal ❤️
A well-respected figure in the local running community, Ger has faced formidable challenges, this year suffering three brain haemorrhages and a stroke. Despite these obstacles, Ger has displayed unwavering strength & determination, undergone active recovery, returned to running with remarkable vigour.
A true advocate for all runners, Ger has not only been an accomplished athlete, successfully completing numerous marathons, but also a supportive coach, mentoring and guiding individuals of all ages and abilities in his local community as a founder of the Dublin Bay Running Club. His positive & encouraging nature has left an indelible mark on those around him.
In the wake of a skiing accident earlier this year that left him with an artery dissection, Ger has fought tirelessly to regain his mobility, demonstrating incredible progress as he relearns essential functions such as eating, swallowing, and walking. Miraculously, he has even resumed running, a testament to his unyielding spirit and dedication to his passion.
Congratulations Ger - we look forward to presenting you with your medal with the @LordMayorDublin at the start of the @IrishLife Dublin Marathon on Sunday ❤️

In Australia, after his team won the championship, the football captain went into the stands to bring their waterboy, who has Down's Syndrome, to celebrate with them.
A huge thank you to @IrishRugby and @LeinsterRugby Player Joe McCarthy for coming to @DLSPFCRugby to train with the Vikings as they prepare to play in the IMART (International Mixed Ability Rugby) Rugby World Cup next year!
Sending a team to a World Cup is expensive. The team has set up a Go Fund Me page if people want to contribute. If your company wants to be an official sponsor, please contact [email protected].
