Seven farmers vanished from a Guerrero village in late September. Local farmers protested, and Mexico’s government finally sent military-led search parties. After days of pressure, La Familia Michoacana released six of the seven, according to Breitbart’s reporting.

Now Catholic priest Father Filiberto Velázquez, director of the Minerva Bello Center for the Rights of Victims of Violence, says the survivors told him something far worse. In a streamed interview, he said they were held at a site with 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐧 𝟏𝟎𝟎 𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐤𝐢𝐝𝐧𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐬.

He says that when soldiers closed in, cartel gunmen loaded the captives into several trucks and shuffled them between locations, 𝐚𝐥𝐰𝐚𝐲𝐬 𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐩 𝐚𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐝 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡. Velázquez says the released farmers endured severe beatings, psychological torture and threats of death.

Activists say the motive is a land grab. The cartel wants a base in the rural community of El Bajón de Ajuchitlán, and the town has resisted it out loud. Breitbart reports the kidnappings appear aimed at crushing that resistance, with some farmers pressured to join the cartel.

Velázquez says that since their release, Guerrero officials have turned a blind eye and left the farmers to 𝐩𝐚𝐲 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐢𝐫 𝐨𝐰𝐧 𝐦𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐬. Details of the mass kidnappings remain unclear, and the 100-victim figure comes from the priest’s account of what survivors told him, not from Mexican authorities.

Can holding longer actually improve your rewards without increasing your risk?

Rebate Pad's planned holder system uses three age-based weights:

0–3 days: 1x
3–7 days: 1.5x
After 7 days: 2x

But here's the catch.

A 2x weight doesn't mean your investment earns 2x.

It means your tokens receive twice the weighting of equally sized, newly held tokens when eligible payouts are calculated.

The actual amount still depends on trading fees and everyone else's eligible holdings.

Personally, I like incentives that recognize patience.

But patience should never replace checking liquidity, price movement and token concentration.

Better reward weighting isn't the same as lower investment risk.

Tomorrow, the theory starts meeting real transactions.
