@IPTCWCDirector Ironically, they still show intensification for the next 12h so I’m not really sure what’s their motive behind that when shear will be getting to it by then but this is probably one of those storms they’ll just retroactively bump. Doesn’t help they’re constrained (5.0 at 06Z lol)

Cyclone #Errol has undergone very rapid intensification and is now upgraded to a Category 5 Tropical Cyclone by the JTWC. One could argue previous storms could get a bump up post analysis, but for now, first official C5 of 2025.

#Kristy is very near Category 5 status this morning (again) over the Eastern Pacific. Quite a spectacle to witness fairly late into the season. Pending shear or an EWRC, Dvorak should merit such upgrade at -18Z given its DT7.0 appearance so far.
