⚠️ CASO LEDGER: COSA È SUCCESSO E COSA DEVI FARE ADESSO ⚠️

Cosa è successo?
Ieri, all'incirca a partire dalle ore 11.00 italiane, sebbene l'attacco sia stato poi reso noto pubblicamente nel pomeriggio, alcuni account che stavano utilizzando delle dApps si sono visti svuotare il proprio wallet.

Ovviamente questo problema ha subito fatto il giro del mondo (del crypto mondo) e poco dopo si è compreso che il problema aveva origine da un bug all'interno di una delle librerie sviluppate dall'azienda Ledger che serve per connettere il proprio wallet con le dApps.

Il nome di questa libreria è: `ledgerhq/connect-kit`.

E ATTENZIONE: NON C'ENTRA NULLA CON il LEDGER NANO, l'HARDWARE WALLET!

Si, è la stessa azienda che produce l'hardware wallet, MA il vostro hardware wallet NON è COMPROMESSO! BASTA FAR CIRCOLARE FAKE NEWS SU QUESTO PUNTO ESTREMAMENTE IMPORTANTE!

Come è potuto accadere?
Ci si può girare attorno in vari modi, ma qui il problema principale è senza dubbio la grave mancanza di applicazione delle normali pratiche di sicurezza da parte di un'azienda come Ledger che dovrebbe invece proprio basarsi su di esse...

Infatti, semplicemente aggirando un dipendente di Ledger attraverso metodi di phishing, l'attaccante è riuscito a prendere possesso delle chiavi necessarie per pubblicizzare aggiornamenti della libreria in questione e caricarli immediatamente sul CDN (Content Delivery Network) dal quale tipicamente poi possono essere scaricati∂.

Come avveniva l'attacco?
In maniera classica...il wallet non si svuota da solo, a meno che voi non firmiate transazioni senza che abbiate compreso COSA state realmente firmando.

In pratica l'attaccante faceva comparire tantissimi pop up che vi chiedevano di firmare un messaggio...e cosa potrebbe mai andare storto???

Beh nell'istante in cui davate il vostro consenso, potevate dire addio ai fondi sul vostro wallet!

Problema risolto!
Ad ogni modo, il problema è ad ora stato risolto e Ledger ha pubblicato la nuova versione della libreria (v1.1.8) che NON contiene il codice malevolo.
Io vi consiglio caldamente di attendere comunque almeno 24h prima di interagire con dApps ANCHE SE voi non utilizzate mai ledger connect ma ad esempio usate solo Metamask o altri wallet differenti.

PREVENIRE è MEGLIO CHE CURARE!

Conclusioni
Se avete un hardware wallet Ledger Nano: potete stare tranquilli, il vostro dispositivi non è compromesso. Semplicemente astenetevi 24h prima di interagire con dApps.

Se non avete un hardware wallet Ledger Nano: astenetevi comunque per 24h prima di interagire con dApps.

O comunque prima di interagire chiedete al team di quella dApps per capire se nel loro sito web il problema si è risolto o meno, e non fidatevi a caso comunque...

Sicuramente Ledger dimostra una carenza di pratiche serie di sicurezza, questo non li si può negare. Allo stesso tempo non è corretto sostenere che il Ledger Nano sia stato compromesso (come ho visto fare) in quanto è una informazione falsa.

Ci tengo a ringraziare @ManInBlackie in quanto ieri è stato super sul pezzo ad informare tutti di questo problema mentre io ero bello tranquillo a non aprire X😂!

@DU09BTC @Ledger From 2022 to 2023 I really saw a lot of shit...I've always thought something like this could have happened.

That's why my strategy, after usdc depeg, is just to keep things simple, just hold and do nothing.

I hope they fix this shit though.
