I am surprised to see all the panic surrounding Unreal discontinuing blueprints. Godot discontinued its visual scripting after they couldn't really see a path forward in regards to how to make it better/used more. Code is often both cleaner and faster.
you spent decades cultivating and building an ecosystem based around blueprints, integrating it into major studios, making it be the primary method of code taught in schools across the globe, building up years of foundational knowledge...
only to decide to scrap it all?

the devs would have probably just used some of the bits in the sprite data to flip horizontal, vertical, or both to save space. ripper doesn't have to worry about those limits
