How much radiology do medical students actually see?
In a 2020 survey of 472 students at 31 US MD schools, 72% felt they received too little radiology education.

Early mornings, good company, and a run through the city 🏃♀️
The NASCI 2026 fun run is one of our favorite traditions, and this year's group made it one to remember! Great way to start the morning before a full day of cardiovascular imaging education.

Back from my first #NASCI26 feeling humbled and motivated. As an R2, I’m grateful to learn from leaders in cardiovascular imaging and especially to Dr. Mina Hanna for his mentorship and introduction to the NASCI community. Hope to see many of you at NASCI 2027 in Pittsburgh!
Dr. Rezai’s work at WVU Medicine is so impactful and possibly revolutionary in using ultrasound to augment the treatment of Alzheimer's and potentially treat many psychological conditions… He literally brings hope for treating the so-called type 3 DM that is going rampant.
A man with Alzheimer's, knowing there's no cure for the disease, donned a million-dollar helmet for a cutting-edge treatment directing nearly a thousand beams of ultrasound energy at a target in his brain the size of a pencil point. https://t.co/8Pcqc3KHif

Basic science research occasionally leads to some transformative healthcare advances.
I'll admit I'm biased as I have had a front row seat, but this one is really amazing! (and no, I am not paid by anyone to say this)
We have an FDA approved blood test for traumatic brain injury (TBI).
Think of how troponin revolutionized cardiac care. This will do the same for TBI...
A blood test can help determine if a patient needs a CT scan. It gives an objective marker of TBI severity.
All of this can be done with a bedside test on venous blood. No lab required.
Beyond the hospital setting, the implications for military and athletics are tremendous.
Amazing work from the @UCSF_BASIC@NeurosurgUCSF teams!

So the next obvious question is, “Well how do you prevent or reverse insulin resistance?”
Well, you have to limit what causes it: high-glycemic carbs and sugars
“An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.”
Your best bet is to never go down this path.
The Mayo Clinic is calling Alzheimer's Type 3 Diabetes
I bet you know someone who is suffering from it.
The current treatments are not lowering the rates of Alzheimer's.
In fact, rates of the disease continue to rise every year.
There’s a reason….

Half hour ago.
Teenage girl on my street having a severe allergic reaction.
Yelling for an EpiPen.
I’m holding my kid, sprint a block to the fire department, yell that we need an EliPen.
Fireman comes out, follows me, tells me the city took them away because of budget.
When you’re studying, ask yourself, ‘am I being active in my learning?’
If not, ‘how can I turn this moment to become more rooted in active recall?’
Similar to how meditation draws attention to our breath, check-ins while studying can help us become more intentional learners.
