Its been a while since I posted, but I really have to say that 5.6 Sol is extremely impressive especially when it comes to frontend work. Great job @OpenAI. Claude used to be a standout in this regard, but the Codex team has really stepped it up!

i think people are misunderstanding gpt-4o. it isn't a text model with a voice or image attachment. it's a natively multimodal token in, multimodal token out model.
you want it to talk fast? just prompt it to. need to translate into whale noises? just use few shot examples.

@alignment_lab Perhaps I am being too hopeful (and naively optimistic). Entirely possible. If I come across as being disrespectful of others (including your own) work in the field of AI, I apologize. There is definitely amazing work being done and still to be done.

I don't believe LLMs have peaked, but it is completely understandable (and I feel it too) that the hype train is getting exhausting. Everyone has been catching up to GPT-4 in terms of capabilities this past year which isn't nearly as exciting as seeing what GPT-5 class can do.

From Global Poverty to AI Doomerism 🚨

The Effective Altruism founders planned – from day one – to mislead donors and new members in order to build the movement's brand and community.

The "Hard R" drama around Stellar Blade is proof that people will create drama out of literally anything just for drama's sake. Games aren't enough of a distraction? Do we really need to create drama around a randomly placed game assets that use the word "Hard" and the letter "R"

[Ben Bartlett @bencbartlett]

this is basically the LLM race right now

I have given up waiting for GPT-5. Now I'm just waiting for Llama 3 70B @erhartford 's Dolphin Edition (or I'll take a Llama 3 70B with an extended context window 🙂).

[𝕿𝖗𝖊𝖛𝖔𝖗 𝕻𝖚𝖑𝖙𝖟 @trpultz]

Llama 3 70B is awesome, but that context window at the moment. 🤮🤒

AI Winter is coming... I can feel it. The coldness of the heat on my skin. The freezing rays of the sun.

[𝕿𝖗𝖊𝖛𝖔𝖗 𝕻𝖚𝖑𝖙𝖟 @trpultz]

I truly believe that GPT-5 will be the determiner as to where we are on the curve (assuming we are even on a curve). And if nothing else, more reliable agents with GPT-5 will be huge. Agentic workflows are so close to becoming possible which would open a whole plethora of uses.

[Teknium 🪽 @Teknium]

Interesting. I would like to see GPT-5 before concurring

My only criticism of the Fallout TV series is how unrealistic it is. In what I imagine to be a big world characters run into each consistently and conveniently at just the right times. It's the same reason I don't like watching the Taken series of films. Not a fan of plot armor.

[Ethan Mollick @emollick]

This chart shows the three big questions of AI right now (even given the limitations of MMLU as a test):
1) OpenAI was very far ahead, now it isn’t. Will GPT-5 be another leap?
2) Will open source models converge with closed source?
3) Will rapid progress continue or hit a wall?

Just found out about "tulpamancy" and the idea of "tulpas". People are so fucking judgemental. If you want to make tulpas (as long as it is in a healthy way and doesn't harm others), go for it! The criticism of the practice is so toxic and shaming for some reason.

I am having way too much fun with @udiomusic . Watching the new Fallout series, but I keep pausing every time my music is done generating. Lol.

As if the idea of a tech singularity wasn't bad enough with tech itself changing rapidly... We still have to deal with humans changing perfectly good things for no reason (and no way to return to previous layouts).

[𝕿𝖗𝖊𝖛𝖔𝖗 𝕻𝖚𝖑𝖙𝖟 @trpultz]

I just had the scariest realization today. With AI improving at code gen and programmers generating code faster, perfectly good UIs will be rearranged even faster now. Then, coincidentally, I open YouTube and go to watch a video and the layout has changed. Well... shit...
