visiting fellow @BrookingsInst, on leave from world bank @WBedutech (+ exec cmte @GlobalEdTechHub, vice chair @DigitalPromise) exploring what's next in #edtech
I am currently a Visiting Fellow at the Brookings Institution, a think tank where I am exploring the use of digital learning & employment credentials, generative AI in education & emerging #edtech policies, tools & initiatives, post-pandemic https://t.co/yKW4vzbPtZ
Thanks to the people who alerted me to this: The World Bank EduTech blog (https://t.co/PQkfTACDSI) does indeed appear to have been deleted, including all individual posts/essays and seven annual compendia, from the World Bank web site.
I'll see if I can re-post everything somewhere else (and then work on related SEO, so that these things can be found and accessed again). Until then, it'll just be what's available in the Internet Archive.
The Twitter account that I opened 15 years ago for the World Bank's #edtech program, @WBedutech, has now been closed; the archive will remain. Thanks to the 18k+ subscribers with whom we interacted over the years. Follow @WBG_Education for news on the World Bank's edtech work.
@DaveEvansPhD You might also look for a specific functionality that is included in an EMIS or SIS (or something similar), as EMIS/SIS can mean different things to different people, or even the same thing -- and maybe the functionality you are looking for is in another tool
@DaveEvansPhD You might want to look for studies that purport to examine the 'impact' of 'student information systems' (or 'SIS'), and not just of EMIS.

When people reach out to high schoolers via WhatsApp, they can boost enrollment in teacher training programs. But when the bots do the outreach, it doesn't (yet) have the same impact. https://t.co/BJ1IRDe6rb Evidence from Chile by @Nicolas_Ajz and others

AI and the next digital divide in education:
1st: rich have tech, poor do not.
2nd: rich have tech & skills to use, poor have tech but lack skills
3rd?: rich have tech + people, poor just have tech
