In October 2024, a research paper claimed black plastic kitchen utensils were toxic-triggering media headlines and real-life panic. (The Atlantic: "Throw Out Your Black Plastic Utensils"). Even I started getting rid of my plastic utensils!
Then Joe Schwartz (director of McGill University's office for science and society) discovered a 10x math/ multiplication error in the study. That's a huge error - and a reminder of how easily a slip-up can send shockwaves through everyday life.
Wouldn't it be great if these kinds of errors didn't happen? Actually, Al — specifically @openAl's 01 Pro and 03 models - are perfect for finding errors like this.
@Emollick and @gibbnicholas noticed that Al could catch the mistake in the research paper. @Pmarca then tweeted that he'd fund a serious effort to look for errors at scale.
Enter @YesNoError, a powerful Al agent my cofounder @MattPRD created. We use @OpenAl's 01 model to review research papers for errors, posting findings on https://t.co/YyXAQLFcVr and here on X/Twitter. The idea is to strengthen scientific credibility by catching mistakes before they cause a stir. It's already found a few errors in its few short days of existence!
And they already are. since Matt's first tweet,
@YesNoError has sparked huge interest - thousands of tweets, DMs, and emails! @OpenAl even reached out to help us figure out how we can build YesNoError into a true factchecking powerhouse. I'm working with @MattPRD to build the roadmap, assemble a science advisory team and push $YNE further. Thank you to @gregosuri and the others who have given us advice so far.
There is a concept among the web3 community called DeSci (Decentralized Science) -- it's the use of blockchain to help fund and spread scientific research in a way that makes it not reliant on research grants (a few people picking and choosing what gets funding, and whose applications and time-intensive) or university funding (which includes lots of politics, the research ends up being owned by university). DeSci contends that communities of people can fund scientific research for the greater good without the gatekeeping. There is something fascinating to the idea.
$YNE is a perfect example and use case of DeSci (Decentralized Science)-using Web3 and community-driven resources to support initiatives that don't have an obvious profit model but can do a world of good. It's a glimpse into a future where crowdfunded Al keeps our research honest and our science trusted.
Stay tuned - this is experiment has taken on a life of its own!
not a flattering article but near term solid-state quantum processors will be used educationally, which is exactly the purpose of our project: to educate the industry at large & the general popular as to the importance of quantum computing to accelerate industry-wide development.
The future is Quantum X AI.
All holders of $TSOTCHKE are now VC shareholders of QuantumAI which will compete with the largest LLM models on the planet, with spin-based quantum computing.
More details coming soon, stay tuned. 👁️🗨️
