@TikiTales Oh no! Would you happen to know if there are any other areas of the campground / cabins are damaged?
I tried looking at Volcano House website / social media but they haven’t provided any updates.
@MarioNawfal It took our county / state , whatever, couple years to replace just one of the bridges in that area before. I can only imagine how long it will take until that road is drivable again.
@HIElectricLight As a paying customer, we should be able to get a detailed update regarding our specific communities. For example, the area from Milolii south Kona north to Ki’ilae south Kona.
Vague “south of the islands” is a huge area.
@IzzyH45153748@HwnElectric For fucking real!!! It’s ridiculous they have a fricken monopoly and can’t even provide updates and real information. Yet “we should be grateful” they are “trying their best”. Lame. We should all have credits on our next bill.
@IzzyH45153748@DerekOrtt Sorry to hear that! We haven’t had power since yesterday at 3pm although there aren’t any damages in our area. But it may be because of this from HELCO.
@HIElectricLight Yes, same. Nothing down in our area yet power off. How do we know if we are a part of this load shed or if actual repairs are needed in the area?
South Kona
@AaronChapman_@DerekOrtt Waimea is not protected my the mountains like how we are in certain places in Kona. This diagram shows it. We had almost no wind or rain all day. Meanwhile, people just 30 minutes south of us had falling trees.
@BackpirchCrew Moving NEAR south point. It did not go over south point at all. Stop trying to make this storm something that it’s not. The Kona Low storm was way worse for us🤣
@iCyclone Brah this shit was nothing🤣 the Kona Low storm was way worse. Knock it off with the hype.
We’re on the Kona side and Mauna Loa and Mauna Kea deflected this Hurrican’t like it always does.
@WeatherDude150@SteveOweathaguy Wrong. We got more rain on the Kona side during the Kona low storm. It’s been a light drizzle and no rain for our area all day. Depends what part of the island you are on. You see that blue area in the west side of the island map? Ya, that’s Mauna Loa and Mauna Kea doing its job.
@Sausius_wx Mauna Loa and Mauna Kea break apart hurricanes. Do people not realize how huge our mountains are? Just go look at what happened with Iselle in 2014.
